Business has been going well for professional organizer Charlotte Adams since she moved back to her hometown. She has reconnected with her high school best friend (and new momma), Detective Pepper Monahan, and is happy to be around her old gang of friends, "the misfits".
Charlotte's newest client is an old acquaintance (and nemesis) of her mother's, Lorelei Beauchamp. A former model, Lorelei is known for her fabulous clothes. She has seven over-flowing closets that desperately need Charlotte's organizing touch. The recent loss of her daughter Anabel has Lorelei practically paralyzed with depression and it's hard for Charlotte to get any cooperation from her. When Lorelei tells Charlotte that she believes that Anabel was murdered, Charlotte knows that she'll be doing a little investigating into the accident, if just to set her client's mind at ease. Meanwhile, Pepper's husband, policeman Nick Monahan, has been acting strangely. When Pepper is attacked and all evidence points to Nick, he disappears; leaving Charlotte to figure out how his odd behavior ties in with all the other strange things that have been happening around town.
With CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL, the fourth book in her Charlotte Adams Mystery series, author Mary Jane Maffini once again delights her audience with the lively lifestyle of her super-organized heroine. I love how she brings readers up to date with Charlotte's landlord/would-be boyfriend Jack, those lively puppies Truffles and Sweet Marie, and the others who rotate around Charlotte's universe. The storyline is deliciously suspenseful and the addition of organizing tips scattered throughout the book are informative and helpful. CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL is a real treat to read for any cozy mystery fan.
