Fantasy Historical | Fantasy Urban

When called away from her latest adventure with the Righteous, Cin Craven follows the call all the way back to her family homestead, Glen Gregor. Upon her arrival, she is reminded of her immortality at the loss of family and is shocked to find one of her kin has called her home.

A cousin, Claire, has been kidnapped. Claire refused to hand over an urn given to her by a widower to a man, Adrian Boucher. Now Cin is called upon to travel to the America where there is an internal war brewing. So now if the Righteous can get across the ocean without incident and cross the blockades, then all they have to do is find the culprit, get Claire back and return her to England to her family. Just another day in the life of Cin Craven.

Once in the new world, Cin finds that the battles she must face are more than just against Adrian Boucher, who has Claire at his plantation on Devil's Island. Cin has to face inner demons which threaten her sanity, her relationship with Michael and the safety of all those around her.

In the third installment of the Cin Craven series, Jenna Maclaine brings the adventure across the pond to a warring America and the obstacles facing Cin are not all supernatural— a plantation of slaves, the war, black magic and a captive god. This book was an exhilarating ride in the 1860's in Georgia.

The relationship between Cin and her husband is a great balance of romance and adult maturity between two adults. It was refreshing to not spend a whole book wondering if they will stay together. They are a strong married couple that I hope to read about for years to come.

This was the first book I have read by Jenna Maclaine and felt the book was so well written it could have been a stand alone. I plan on going out and picking up the previous two books this weekend.

But when a ruthless plantation owner kidnaps Cin's cousin the most terrifying battle of all awaits.
