Paws-A-While is Serena Oakley's doggy daycare/spa catering
to upscale San Francisco dogs. Serena's become good at
matching clients to pets, and when super-sexy, ruggedly
masculine Nick Whalen enters her establishment with Bessie,
a tiny Yorkie-Poo, she's a bit taken aback at the pairing.
Not only that, Nick doesn't have the usual attitude most
clients exhibit toward their dog-kids. Still, Nick seems
nice enough and Bessie passes the Paws-A-While screening
with flying colors when she bonds with Serena's Maltese,
Snowball, making her the newest member of the exclusive
club.
Serena is right to be suspicious of her newest client. Nick
is a private investigator and Bessie is his "in" at the
doggie daycare. Serena is definitely hiding something, and
if it has anything to do with the identity theft ring he
believes she's running, he's going to take her down.
Kandy Shepherd's HOME IS WHERE THE BARK IS is a
delightful romantic comedy with a cleverly plotted mystery
thrown in. In addition to Serena and Nick, who are very
likable characters, Ms. Shepherd has created a variety of
four-legged characters guaranteed to amuse and entertain.
HOME IS WHERE THE BARK IS is tail-wagging fun!
From the author of the delightful Love is a
Four-Legged Word comes another novel of romance,
mystery, and dogs.
Former model Serena Oakley
has opened Paws-A-While, a doggy daycare and spa in San
Francisco. When a ruggedly handsome client walks in, holding
a Yorki-Poo too dainty for his personality, Serena knows
something's not right.
Undercover PI Nick Whalen
has followed a series of identity frauds to Serena and is
determined to dig up secrets he's certain she is hiding.
Despite their mutual distrust, Nick and Serena find
themselves bonding over an injured, orphaned dog. And soon
they're arousing more than just suspicions. But will the
pair trust in love enough to thwart a danger circling too
close to home?
I love this review and want this book now. In fact, having never read the first one, I want that one too! I wouldn't have know about this 'new to me' author except for today's post in Fresh Fiction. Thanks! Julie (Julie Robinson 5:58pm July 11, 2010)
