No one keeps an eye on his beat like GRIFF CARVER. He has spent half his life patrolling and maintaining law and orderβ but for this twelve year old, life isn't all sunshine and roses monitoring the halls of his middle school. Griff Carver takes his job very seriously. If an infraction occurs in his hallways, there will be a hallway patrolman to enforce the rules and insure the safety of the school.
Before transferring to Rampart Middle School, GRIFF CARVER was committed to upholding the laws of the hall monitor β six long yearsβ at St. Finbar's that is until he became "the only safety patrol in history to get kicked out of school."
Even with a reputation that precedes him, Griff is accepted as part of his new school's, Rampart Middle School, safety patrol of hall monitors only because of their dwindling numbers-- Griff gets his badge and a new partner, Tommy.
Being in the new kid in school has given Griff one advantage over the rest of the schoolβhe is suspicious of everyone and isn't easily snowballed. When Griff meets the school's most beloved student, something about Marcus "The Smile" Volger just isn't as perfect as he seems. Soon the safety patrol embarks on an investigation into bogus hall passes, but his new partner Tommy overhears a suspicious conversation and begins to wonder which side of the law is Griff really on.
In his premier fiction novel, Jim Krieg paints a fun and fast paced action packed tromp through the halls of junior high in GRIFF CARVER HALLWAY PATROL. Preteens will love this junior detective adventure. I found this a light and quick read that had me laughing at times and eager to solve the mystery. I look forward to reading more from Krieg and hope he takes this world into a series.
