Suspense

Tessa Gray is the perfect operative to try to infiltrate the Church of the Everlasting Sin run by a self-proclaimed prophet and man of God. This mountain fortified compound houses the leader and his devout followers, many of whom have psychic abilities. Tessa has been recruited to become a part of Haven, which is a civilian group of psychics who help the Special Crimes Unit solve those particularly special crimes that cannot be resolved by normal means. She has exactly the personality and demeanor that the highly psychic leader of this group preys on and they have already started coming after her.

Head of the SCU, Noah Bishop, has carefully selected Tessa to be the next one to try to get evidence against the leader of this cult, who just may be one of the most dangerous serial killers they have ever faced. Tessa agrees to give it a shot although she's not totally convinced of the strength of her own psychic abilities. But she finds out there are children at risk and she refuses to back down even when it seems that her own life is in danger.

Kay Hooper began her different series of books involving Noah Bishop long ago and has been tantalizing and terrifying readers with them ever since. If you haven't ever read one of the Bishop and SCU books, you may want to go back and start with the first ones before reading this one because there are recurring characters you will keep running into in each of the books. All of them have psychic abilities of various kinds and to different degrees. Tie this in with some of the most romantic scenes ever written and you will be hooked on these books from the first one.

In BLOOD SINS, there is not really so much romance as there is a hint of what may come between two of the characters. The full focus is on the compound and how to stop the evil that is going on there. While not quite as frightening as some of Ms. Hooper's other books in the SCU series, it does definitely have its moments, along with a few surprises that no one will see coming.

BLOOD SINS is a must read if you are a fan of Kay Hooper and her wonderfully scary world of psychics and serial killers.

SUMMARY

Young, vulnerable, attractive, Tessa Gray looked like the perfect victim. Which was why Noah Bishop of the FBI’s Special Crimes Unit recruited the novice operative to use as bait for a killer hidden inside the Church of the Everlasting Sin–a fortified mountain compound where at least two women have already been murdered in ways that defy explanation. By entering the cult’s compound, Tessa will expose herself to the dark magnetism of its leader and his fanatically loyal followers. Once she’s inside, no one, not even Bishop or the town’s chief of police, can guarantee she’ll come out alive. And not even Tessa knows if she’s strong enough to resist the lure of a killer who is less than human.
