Hero at Large

Romance Contemporary

Perky red-headed "Little Orphan Annie" Chris Nelson is a world-class athlete and seasoned celebrity in figure skating. Divorced with a young daughter, Lucy, Chris has been burned by love. The day Chris' car stalls on her way to a coaching job is the day her world turns upside down. Chris' rescuer is tall, handsome and luscious, but a construction worker "slob."

Inflicting a broken arm on Ken Callahan triggers Chris' worst nightmare. Being coerced into subletting a room to Ken, Aunt Edna intervenes in hopes of pairing up the two. This is NOT in Chris' plans. Quick witted and feisty Chris struggles with her hot, demanding body and mind when around Ken. She finds herself falling in love with this warm and so considerate man. The sex is mind-blowing, too! Panicky fears of rejection and betrayal form in Chris's mind when she learns Ken has lied to her and her world again comes tumbling down.

This has to be one of the most witty and enormously funny stories I have read in a while. I found myself completely amused and chuckling throughout the read. Don't miss this one! I have read many of Janet Evanovich's books and found each extremely entertaining. (Note: First released in 1988, HERO AT LARGE was Janet's very first book to be published. To quote Janet from the Amazon page for this novel, "This was the book that changed my life forever and made me a published author.")

SUMMARY

Originally published in Second Chance at Love by Steffie Hall

He cooks a pot holder in the spaghetti sauce and needs lessons on making Jell-O. Still, petite skating coach Chris Nelson's committed to keeping her sexy, scruffy, new "house husband" around. After all, she did break his arm ... and his toe... and she can't just turn him out into the cold...

It seemed like luck when this gorgeous stranger first stopped to help Chris with her car, but suddenly her peaceful life's topsy-turvy as tender, long-suffering Ken Callahan enlists the sympathies of her 7-year-old daughter and her meddlesome Aunt Edna. And even Chris can't deny the excitement his magnetic blue-black eyes spark deep within her... But who is he?
