DEADLY DEALS
Fern Michaels

Reviewed by Betty Cox

Romance Suspense

Baron Bell, a prominent and highly respected attorney in DC, is brokering babies using surrogate mothers. The dirty dealings come when the surrogate moms decide they want their babies back, and then adopt them to some other couple. The original parents are out one-hundred-thousand dollars, plus medical and miscellaneous expenses for the surrogate. There isn't a dollar amount for the heartbreak involved in giving up their children.

Attorney Lizzie Fox has accepted President Martine Connors offer to work at the White House, but Lizzie will give this a six-month's trial and refuses to accept any payment. The attorney also reminds Martine that the vigilantes are still waiting for their exoneration and pardon in exchange for helping Martine get elected, and they are getting very impatient.

All hell breaks loose when our ladies, and their gentlemen, go after Baron Bell and his co-conspirator, Attorney Adel Newsom, a Lizzie Fox wannabe. And, while they are exposing the bad people, the ladies give the White House security another "black eye".

Fun, fun, fun -- every one of the books in this series outdoes its predecessor. In DEADLY DEALS there is a long awaited wedding, and Annie and Isabelle are looking for their Mr. Right. Although Fern Michaels' characters are sometimes larger than life, her story lines are in our daily newspapers. That is just one of the things that make her fans eagerly await their next "fix".

SUMMARY

After years of trying to become pregnant without success, Rachel Dawson and her husband Thomas felt their dreams had finally come true the day they brought home their newly adopted twin babies. Though the lawyer Baron Bell who arranged for the surrogate mother charged a hefty six-figure fee, one glance into the eyes of their precious children told them it was all worth it. Until the birth mother reappeared, first demanding more money, then the twins themselves. Suddenly Baron Bell was nowhere to be found, and the Dawsons were once again childless, heartbroken and nearly destitute.

When the case finds its way to the offices of high-profile attorney Lizzie Fox, she can’t wait to take down the so-called β€œMr. Wonderful.” And she knows she’ll have all the help she needs as it’s just the kind of crime that really gets the Sisterhood’s adrenalin flowing. Once they get their hands on the perpetrators there will be hell to pay, and it will cost a lot more than cold, hard cash.
