Mystery Amateur Sleuth

Stoneham, New Hamphshire is known far and wide as Booktown, for all the bookstores and book-related businesses located in the picturesque burg. Tricia Miles owns "Haven't A Clue," the bookstore dedicated to mysteries, and is discovering that her fascination for mysteries has led her to solving one or two in the town. So it came as no surprise that she would be knee-deep in another mystery, but never dreamed it would hit so close to home this time.

Tricia knew the day was going to be a doozy when she was forced to confront her college roommate, Pammy, about stealing money from her. Asking her to leave and find somewhere else to live, Tricia was sure that Pammy would be ok, after all she had a knack for taking care of herself. But when taking out the trash at Booked For Lunch, her sister's new café, Tricia discovers Pammy's body, headfirst in the dumpster -- and the day turns from bad to worse!

While searching for clues to clear her own name as a suspect in Pammy's murder, Tricia discovers that Pammy was a free-gan, she foraged through dumpsters to find food that other's had thrown out. And searching further, Tricia discovers that this is not unusual, even in the small town of Stoneham -- that many others relied up on foraging, plus the town's food and clothes bank to help them survive. But what else was Pammy searching for, and was her killer watching Tricia as she tries to piece the clues together? Looks like it was going to take a head-first dive into this mystery for Tricia to be able to find the real answers.

In Lorna Barrett's 3rd "Booktown Mystery," BOOKPLATE SPECIAL, the reader is given a taste for current events as well as a thrilling mystery. Barrett really fleshes out her characters in this edition, bringing in a new love interest for Tricia in the form of the handsome Captain Grant Baker. But first time readers of the series can also pick up the book and get to know the settings and characters easily. A tasty treat, and the several delicious recipes provided in the end of the book are sure to please all readers, old or new!
