Romance Suspense

MAKE HER PAY by Roxanne St. Claire is the latest installment in her popular Bullet Catchers series. I personally have been collecting the series, but hadn't yet read a single one when I sat down to read it.Through the grapevine I had heard that this series didn't necessarily need to be read in order, but I would suggest that you do want to read in order. MAKE HER PAY is the story of Constantine Xenakis, and in some previous book he must have made at least a cameo appearance as he does have a prior history with the Bullet Catchers.

While there is enough information to let the reader know that Con (as he is known in the book) is attempting to get back into the good graces of Bullet Catchers head Lucy Sharpe, but not enough as to tell exactly what he did to fall from grace.

Con agrees to go on a secret dive to recover treasure from a ship known as El Falcone. Bullet Catchers has a client who believes that someone on board the Gold Digger, the salvage ship stealing the treasures and selling them to private collectors. It will be Con's job to discover the thief and bring him or her to justice.

Could it really be as easy as it first seems, when barely on board Con catches Lizzie Dare sneaking into the lab attempting to snap pictures of the latest treasure brought up from the depths of the ocean? Of course not...nothing is ever as easy as one first thinks, and soon Lizzie and Con are in not only a fight to prove who rightfully own the treasure that sank with El Falcone, but for their lives as well.

MAKE HER PAY has all the elements needed for a good book, buried treasure, suspense as to who the treasure belongs, and sizzling heat between the primary characters. I know I would have enjoyed it more than I did had I read the series in order, however as I was told there was enough back story (though I wish I knew what specifically Con had done to fall from grace) to make me enjoy the book overall, and be ready to pick up the next in the series.

SUMMARY

Bullet Catcher and former Navy SEAL Constantine Xenakis has infiltrated a dive ship to discover who's plundering priceless gems from a legendary sunken Spanish galleon.

When he catches Lizzie Dare red-handed in the locked treasure room, her story of a stolen ancestral legacy convinces him to work with the sexy thief instead of turning her in -- and not just because he wants to find the real culprit. Lizzie is willing to risk everything to save the Bombay Blue Diamonds from her sworn enemy, even if that means giving in to an irresistible desire to get closer to her accomplice.

But when passion hits them like a rogue wave and danger surrounds them like a school of hungry sharks, their adventure on the high seas turns treacherous...and deadly
