QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS picks up where KING OF SWORD AND
SKY left us last fall with Rain and Ellysetta continuing
their quest to save the tairen and complete their truemate
bond. This isn't a series you can pick up with this book.
It's a more complicated story than that and you have to
start at the beginning and read the series in order; LORD
OF THE FADING LANDS, LADY OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS, KING OF
SWORD AND SKY and only then QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS. It's
well-worth finding the other books (they are all still in
print and easily available).
Vadim Maur, the High Mage of Eld, still covets Ellysetta.
She is the prize, if only he can reclaim her. Since
Ellysetta bears the four mage marks, she is always in
danger of being compromised and captured by Vadim Maur, who
is becoming more desperate as his time on the Earth grows
shorter.
Rain and Ellysetta continue their life journey together;
often frustrated and angry with each other for taking what
the other deems unnecessary risks. Rain is determined to
save Ellysetta; she is his world. Although Ellysetta still
doesn't have her wings, she is Tairen Soul, just as her
husband is, and she longs to fly free. If only it were that
easy. The world and their race still need saving, and the
High Mage isn't about to go out with a whimper. There is a
mighty fight ahead, and there are no guarantees of a happy
ending for anyone in the Fading Lands.
This is the fourth book in what the author has now
announced will be a five-book series. The final book,
TAIREN SOUL, will also be published by Leisure. I'm both
excited and a little sad for the final book. This is a
terrific series, and I have loved the world and world-
building throughout. What an enchanted journey it's been!
