Romance Suspense

Agent Lexi Steele is an operative for Recovery Enforcement Division, RED, an off shoot of NSA. RED has strict rules against agents fraternization. The sexual conduct between Nick Donovan, her supervising partner, and Lexi is grounds for firing, but it is beyond their ability to stop their hot need for each other. Although Lexi has admitted to Nick her past and reasons for joining the team, he's been withholding his secret. It is Christmas season. Their clandestine task force has been engaged in tracking down Big Bad Wolf, Anders Hagstedt, for his true identity and whereabouts for the past few months. Agent Chandra Kerrison deciphers an invaluable message their inside person has passed along. Hagstedt is expected in Manhattan within the next two weeks. They can put a stop to his illegal human trafficking, including the kidnapping and prostituting of young girls. Lexi needs Nick's support to keep her balanced and on target when she learns her mother is gravely ill. RED has worked too hard to get this close to Hagstedt and shutting down his organization. Another opportunity might be months from now. Too many innocents could be injured and killed if they delay or let her emotions cloud her job. She can't drop her assignment. Not when they're within weeks of bringing Hagstedt down. They put into motion Operation Little Red Riding Hood and abduct Madame Cherie. Lexi sets herself up to be a madame with Agent Kerrison in a sleazy prostitution house. Nick has a vested interest in bringing Hagstedt to justice. His little sister was one of their victims. He's willing to call his unethical means legal to infiltrate their den. THE SECOND BETRAYAL by Cheyenne McCray is the continuing novel of an undercover ops to find and bring to justice a criminal. Ms. McCray scenes and portrayals of the criminals can be hard and blunt. The only person's life they value is their own. However she also shows that in the performance of their jobs the agents find peace from their past crimes and victimization, and find hope for the future.

Now it’s up to Lexi and her partner— and lover—Nicholas Donovan to infiltrate the operation.

Finding the mastermind behind the sex trafficking is only one half of the challenge. The other is Nick. Even though she has always trusted him, Lexi can’t help but wonder whether he’s keeping something from her—a shocking secret from his past on the Special Forces unit. Meanwhile, time is running out for the victims…and Lexi may be forced to do the unthinkable to see that the job is done.
