Sabine LeVeche couldn't be having a worse day; the ghost of her best friend's dead mother-in-law (yep, you heard me right), has just shown up and Sabine knows that can't be good news. Where Helena Henry appears, trouble is certain to follow. Sure enough, Sabine is dying.
In need of a blood relative fast, Sabine hires tough and sexy P.I. Beau Villeneuve to track down her kin. Beau knows from experience that finding lost family members can often bring more grief than joy to the person searching for their roots. He fears this will be the case with Sabine and not knowing why she is desperate to find her family, he tries to talk her out of the search. Beau isn't the only one who wants Sabine to leave the past alone. A series of attacks on Sabine convinces Beau there is something about Sabine's family history someone will kill to keep secret.
Light-hearted and very funny at times, MISCHIEF IN MUDBUG moves along at a breakneck pace. Although this is book two in the series, new readers won't have trouble keeping up. The characters from book one are very much in evidence and their backstory is explained. The ghost is central to the story and I have a feeling will be in more Mudbug stories to follow. A breezy mystery with romance overtones will keep you turning the pages.
