Sophie Garou is living the life. She has a job she loves
and she's dating Mark Sydney, CEO of Southeast Airlines.
Things are going great until the unexpected arrival of her
long-lost father threatens to "out" her to the world as a
werewolf. Luc Garou is in Austin for the annual werewolf
Howl. Though he professes a longing to reconnect with his
daughter, Sophie suspects there's more to his arrival than
meets the eye.
When Luc is accused of murder and arrested by long-time
enemy Wolfgang, who also happens to be the leader of the
Houston pack, Sophie and her friends are determined to
prove her father's innocence. Unfortunately for them, Luc
and Wolfgang have a history going back to before Sophie was
born.
Wolfgang and his heir apparent, Elena, aren't thrilled by
Sophie's investigation, especially when Luc's true motives
are revealed. He wants Sophie to take over the Houston
pack. While Sophie has no desire to become leader, the
battle to prove her father's innocence could very easily
bring about that result. Unbeknownst to Sophie, there are
other forces working against her. Those closest to her have
ulterior motives, both personal and otherworldly, and
Sophie will have to make some tough and surprising choices
if she hopes to save her father and make it out of the
final confrontation alive.
LEADER OF THE PACK is Karen MacInerney's third book
in the Urban Werewolf series, and I believe the best in the
series. Sophie is a fun, enjoyable character. She's
comfortable with her life as a werewolf and has managed to
carve out a successful life and find happiness, despite the
difficulties accompanying her heritage. Her world
inevitably conspires against her, making her step outside
her comfort zone time and time again to save herself and
those around her. There are several unexpected twists in
LEADER OF THE PACK, forcing Sophie to make some difficult
decisions. Ms MacInerney's fans have another tough-to-put
down adventure to enjoy.
Talk about a bad-hair day!
Sophie Garou is a master at taming her inner beast, which
comes in handy since she’s a werewolf. With a big promotion
at work and a supersexy boyfriend, Heath (whom she recently
spotted leaving a jewelry store with a beguiling ring box),
she’s one happy girl.
But when Heath starts spending long nights at the office
with his new associate–a dead-ringer for Career Day
Barbie–Sophie smells trouble. And when her professional
relationship with her big new client–who also happens to be
Texas’s brilliantly blue-eyed most eligible bachelor–begins
to sizzle, she wonders if her animal instincts are leading
her in the wrong direction. Just when it seems that things
can’t get any more complicated, they do. The Houston
werewolf pack has sniffed Sophie out, and their message is
chillingly clear: you’re either with us or against us. And
unless she can prove that she’s with them, the next full
moon may just be her last.
