Erotic Anthology | Erotic Paranormal

DAMNED, DELICIOUS, and DANGEROUS is a collection of three paranormal erotic tales.

"The Demon Lord's Cloak" by Delilah Devlin

Voletta enters a tavern in Daemonburg with no expectation of what will happen to her. She has lost her fur cloak, which is very important to her, and seeks helps from the villagers to find it. When two of them kidnap her and leave her tied to a post outside, she fears for what may happen to her. Then a tall, dark stranger releases her and brings her inside the walls to his castle, vowing never to release her, but to give her everything her heart desires in return. Voletta soon learns that the mystery man is Damien, Lord Malphas, and that he is doomed to remain inside the walls of the castle until he can find his true love. He hopes that Voletta will be the one to release him, but after centuries of waiting he realizes it probably won't happen. And Voletta finds passion in his arms, but knows she must leave him before she becomes trapped in his lair forever.

The Demon Lord's Cloak was arguably the most erotic story in the collection. The romantic tension between Damien and Voletta is palpable. He is a man cursed to roam the halls of his home alone, with a new companion only every 100 years. As human women don't generally live that long, he spends quite a bit of his time alone. He is instantly attracted to Voletta, and does everything in his power to make sure that she wants to stay with him. Voletta, on the other hand, is just an innocent girl who is looking for her lost cloak. While she's happy to accept the passion that Damien offers, she knows that for her own peace of mind she must escape—especially before he learns that she is more than she seems. I liked this story, and thought it was a good start for this collection.

"Night Sins" by Lisa Renee Jones

Kayla Ward is a Watcher, a warrior sworn to protect humans from the threat of the creatures who walk the night. It is in her blood to protect and fight, but the Council she serves prefers that she do so on her own. So when women begin turning up in Las Vegas who are all connected to a certain vampire, Ethan, Kayla knows that it's necessary for her to break the rules and seek out the man in question. It doesn't help that this vampire is the one male who seems capable of making her sexual appetite rise to a feverish pitch. Ethan is none too pleased when Kayla shows up at his hotel demanding his help. He knows who is responsible for the deaths and he plans to take care of the threat himself. He finds himself inexplicably attracted to Kayla, and doesn't want any harm to come to her. His protective nature and protectiveness would normally be a sign only exhibited with his mate, which he knows is impossible since Kayla is human—or is she?

Kayla and Ethan's story is my favorite in this collection and the most action packed and entertaining. Kayla is a kick-butt, take-charge kind of heroine, and Ethan is all brooding, alpha male vampire. I loved them together, I loved them apart, and for this reason Night Sins is the story in this collection that fulfills the primary reason that I love to read anthologies—discovering new authors. I really enjoyed Jones's world-building and would love to read more about Kayla and Ethan. Because of this collection, I'll probably check out her other books featuring these characters, which is the whole point of anthologies.

"The Devil's Paradise" by Megan Kerans

Justice Malloy has to find a place to hold a Texas society wedding reception, or risk being unable to pay her brother's college tuition for the second semester in a row. Her responsibilities weigh heavy on her when she discovers The Last Resort, a hotel in the middle of nowhere, but which appears to be just the sort of environment to hold the reception. When she meets the manager of the hotel, Dash, she is instantly attracted to him but at the same time she realizes that all he sees is blond hair and good taste. Automatically assuming that the blonde beauty is one of the many wanton women who frequent the hotel, Dash is quick to brush off Justice. But when she shows him that she isn't another society matron looking to get inside his pants, Dash quickly realizes his mistake. He quickly makes it a priority to keep Justice safe from the depraved, soulless inhabitants of the inn for the two days it will take until she can regain her freedom. In the meantime, he sees no reason why they shouldn't enjoy each other's company.

The Devil's Paradise is easily the most romantic of the stories in this collection. I loved that Justice and Dash both initially only saw each others' outside appearances, and had to dig a little deeper to find the person within. The fact that they were both trapped in the hotel together forced them to become closer than they normally would have, and made for some interesting—and hot—scenes in the interim. This story comes the closest to a traditional love story, and is the one I feel is the most "complete" in the collection.

The Demon Lord's Cloak was a quick, enjoyable story. It was like an appetizer before the main course. Night Sins was the first course, it was filling and enjoyable and left me wanting more. And then The Devil's Paradise was like dessert. When I finished it, I felt satisfied and would definitely come back to these authors for more. All in all. DAMNED, DELICIOUS, AND DANGEROUS was the perfect three-course meal.
