Brooke O'Brien has never has a place to call home before, but the grandmother she never knew left Brooke a house in her will. Zach Thomas was born and raised to be a fire fighter in the small town of Santa Rey, California. When Zach and Brooke meet outside the firehouse, the attraction is instant and mutual, but everyone knows dating a co- worker only leads to trouble. But the biggest obstacle they face is Zach's history of only short-term dating and Brooke wants a real relationship. Working the same shift in such a tight knit group makes denying their feelings that much harder. Everything gets just a bit more difficult after Zach realizes he needs and values Brooke's opinion and after Brooke decides she might like having a home of her own. What will come first? The end of Brooke's assignment or Zach's desire to be in a real relationship?

FLASHPOINT is a fun book to read and would make a great beach companion. The secondary group of characters are just as engaging as the main characters, giving the whole story more depth. The romantic relationship between Zach and Brooke, the hunt for the arsonist, and the camaraderie in the fire house are well thought out.
