No matter what Justin Brant thought about seeing Ava
Turkowski again after all their failed history together, he
would never turn down a request from Leo, her brother. Leo
normally was a suit and tie kind of guy at the Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA), but missing out on
adventure wasn't his strong point. After begged for a more
dangerous assignment, Leo was in deep undercover to get the
goods on the O'Rourkes and organized crime. So, when Leo
made a short call to ask him to get Ava out of town, Justin
had to help.
When he arrived and found Ava with a gun in her hand and
shaken from some photographs that had just arrived, his
professional self took over and he hustled her out to his
car to take her to a safe place. When gunfire erupted as
soon as they reached his car, he knew she wasn't working on
just an ordinary case.
As a highly trained Navy SEAL, Justin knew more than enough
methods to find out what was going on, key information he
would need to protect her. But, could he protect himself
from opening up his heart to her again? Justin knew rules
saved lives and he drilled that into his team all the
time. He also knew how stubborn Ava could be. This time,
he had to take chance. But, by keeping Ava in close
proximity, can he stop the floodgate of emotions from their
teenage love as she fight for her values while steadfastly
confronting the danger she is in?
Bloodied and beaten almost to death, Leo works out in his
head that there has to be a rat in the DEA, but who and
where? Now, that the O'Roukes were on to him, would he
have a chance to warn Ava before they finished him off.
Little did Ava know that the domestic abuse case she was
working on with Susan Mercer could be her death sentence.
This book was my first exposure to Stephanie Tyler, so if
you have not read any of her books before, you are in for a
treat! Part Tom Clancy style intrigue and part high stakes
love, you are in for a non-stop suspenseful romance! I was
quite impressed with how well Tyler had skillfully and
realistically developed both the main and secondary
characters within a strong plotline and fast paced action.
You'll also love the confusion in the heads of these alpha
males as they seek to understand the women they love. While
I don't know the author's intentions concerning this
reunion romance, I can vouch that the characters have the
makings for an incredible series!
