Romance Contemporary

Sports agent Dexter Brantley started his own agency soon after graduating college and quickly acquired the nickname "Lucky Bastard" thanks to his ability negotiate tremendous deals for his gifted clients. Psychic Lara Wyland and Dex met five years ago under less than auspicious circumstances. Lara receive a call from Victor Marek, a strong NFL kicker, who wanted to remove the curse his grandmother put on his leg after he forgot her birthday. At the time Dex, thought the idea of a curse was ridiculous and made it clear to everyone involved and that might not have been a wise thing for him to do. According to legend Dex, at thirty-three, has hit the magic age at which the men of the family begin to loose all they've acquired. Still it takes two homes destroyed by fire, a rapidly shrinking client roster, a new nickname of Dex the Hex, and a nine-car pileup on the George Washington Bridge to convince Dex he might want to address the family curse. Now Dex is calling Lara on his own behalf.

Lara has her own troubles. She has psychic gifts that she can't ignore or she'll cause electromagnetic static wherever she goes. Lara is also getting grief from her mother and other psychics for agreeing to use her gifts to make a living. When she gets Dex's call, she has to choose between a nice paycheck and more grief from other psychics or saving her pride and going broke. She makes the wise choice with the paycheck. After being flown out to Brantley family's island in the St. Lawerence River, Lara begins to wonder if it really was the wise choice.

Likeable characters and an unique story make this book entertaining. There are suspenseful moments when it is revealed that not all the threats to Dex and Lara are coming from the spirit realm. Chasing down the bad guy and saving the girl might be predictable, but that doesn't mean it's not satisfying to read about!

SUMMARY

Sports agent Dexter Brantley used to be the luckiest guy on the planet. But between the house fires, car wreck and half his clients dumping him, "Dex the Hex" is a wreck himself. Worse, there's a rumor floating about a family curse. If he weren't so paranoid, he would swear someone is out to get him!

It's time to take action. Ordinarily Dex would never spend the weekend with a paranormal hunter—even the very hot Lara Wyland—but he's desperate. Still, with one sexually charged moment, Dex doesn't have to be psychic to know he's about to get lucky. Again and again…
