Down on his luck and cash, Chef Gabriel Brant finally admits defeat and comes back to his hometown in upstate New York to accept a bed and a place to stay with his father, a person he didn't really even want to see again. Life had been rough living with his tough marine style dad before, but Gabe needed a safe haven and a place to regroup. He had lost everything when Hurricane Katrina had destroyed his restaurant and his dreams two years before and nothing had gone right for him since.

Surprisingly, his two five year old twins, the talkative Justin and the quieter, Jared, who hadn't spoken since Katrina, seem to take to Walter, their newly found grandfather, and they soon found the soft spot in his rough old heart.

Registering the boys in Kindergarten, Gabe encounters Olivia Marshall, a childhood friend, who makes it her mission to ensure the best for the new boys in her class. Rubbed raw by Katrina and worn down by his misfortunes, Gabe is highly sensitive to every perceived insult and pity he feels from Olivia and others and he is determined to get away from this small town as soon as he has a few dollars together.

Abandoned by their mother when the twins were small babies, Gabe cared for his boys, grew to love them and they were all that had kept him sane. Seeking some security to protect himself, he contacts their mother to get the legal papers squared away. Morgana, an exotic dancer in the mid- west, catches Gabe by surprise as she decides this is the opportunity to start a new chapter with him. While long buried feelings of love for Gabe keep surfacing for Livvy, long considered the town's spinster teacher, she decides she has no choice but to do what is best for the boys! But, will that be what is the best for her and Gabe?

With the spirit of a small town New England Christmas and the mischievous magic of mistletoe, Amy Frazier pulls you into this whirling snowglobe romance that will hold you spellbound with anticipation and delight. Looking deep into the hearts of her characters, the author paints strong emotions and motivations in this tale filled with good natured humour as adults and children finally find some much needed "Comfort and Joy".

Stoke up the fire, snuggle down with a glass of bubbly and enjoy this wonderful gift of seasonal reading! A real treat!

SUMMARY

Two years after Hurricane Katrina destroyed everything Gabriel Brant and his twin sons had, it seems as if he's still struggling to move on. Coming home to his dad's for Christmas—to stay—is not what he had in mind for his life. This is it: no more charity.

Especially not from small-town do-gooder Olivia Marshall, who wants to heal him. The last thing he needs right now is the interference of his boys' softhearted teacher. Or her pity.

Love…? That's a whole other story.
