Morgan Glennon is fatherless and his mother, Eva, reveals
nothing about who is father is or his location. In
defending his mother's honor, Morgan spends many of his
school days in the 1930s sporting bloody noses and bruises
from fights with his classmates because of their taunts.
Morgan only passion in life is flying. He uses every cent
he earns to buy an old airplane and pay for flying lessons.
Georgia Carter also has wings in her heart. In 1940, she
arrives in Waukegan, Illinois, to take a job as a waitress
near an airfield in hopes of learning to fly. After much
persuasion, Georgia marries the flight instructor, Roger
Welles, who dies in combat after being sent to fight the
Japanese. Georgia joins a WASP (Women's Airforce Service
Pilots) unit where she meets Morgan, now a pilot. Both are
reluctant to become involved with each other, since the
risk is great that one of them may not live through the
war. Charles Lindbergh reveals deeply kept secrets to
Morgan that will change his life. Will Georgia and Morgan
find a way to overcome the bridge of secrets each holds to
finally be together?
Marie Bostwick has created many stirring and soul-
searching moments for both Georgia and Morgan in their
search to find each other. The memorable reality and
insights into history during the war with Japan are very
nostalgic and well-written. The bravery of the soldiers who
fought for our country has been well-portrayed with a very
beautiful story of two people searching for love during
these tragic times. I highly recommend reading this moving
love story.
In ON WINGS OF THE MORNING, the highly anticipated sequel to
FIELDS OF GOLD, Morgan Glennon unwittingly follows in the
footsteps of his famous aviator father. Forced to confront
the realities of war and the secrets of his past, Morgan
fights to break the stranglehold of the enemy in the Pacific
and to win the heart of Georgia Carter, a beautiful young
pilot whose intelligence, bravery and passion for flight
equal his own.
