INTO THE DARK is the sixth and final installment in Cindy Gerard's Bodyguard series. It the story of Dallas Garrett, former Marine and partner in the family security business, E.D.E.N. This chapter of the Garrett family saga picks up where the previous story left off. After saving Amy Walker from captivity in Jolo, Dallas has returned to West Palm where he fights his own demons, stemming from military action in the Middle East. He feels unworthy to be alive, much less to love. Especially to love Amy.

Amy, armed with disturbing and dangerous information about her heritage, is looking for revenge. She knows who was behind her abduction to the Phillipines—and the many atrocities she survived—and wants to get even. When she realizes her life is still in danger, she runs to the one person she trusts to help her. Dallas, even if she last saw him months ago, right before she disappeared out of his life.

Together they race against time to get the masterminds before they get her. Along the way, Dallas must decide whether he trusts himself to be with Amy and to love her as she deserves—and wants.

The staccato pace of this story never lets up. Relentless action keeps the story moving, the tension building, and the reader riveted. Ms. Gerard strikes a nice balance between the romance and the suspense. Neither story disappoints.

For those readers, like myself, who missed the first five books, don't fret. Ms. Gerard fills in the reader without slowing the pace. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
