Romance Series

Secrets always have a way of being found out and Diana was learning the hard way that it is better to start facing them before it is too late. She also knew she had to confront her own fears about past deeds and lies, even if this involved leaving her beloved nine-year old daughter Jaye to do it.

Despite the positive goals and gains she makes for herself, such as overcoming her addiction to prescription medications, Diana focuses so much on how she is going to do things that she fails to heed the sage advice of others, including her brother, Connor, and almost becomes in danger of losing Jaye and a chance at love.

By a twist in circumstances resulting from lost courage, Diana ends up working in her old hometown and has to re- connect with Tyler Benson, her high school sweetheart and the unknown father of Jaye. When her longing for him start getting hot, she is determined to make them go cold as she doesn't think Tyler can handle the impact of her secrets. If they come out, she knows she could end up destroying his career. But, can she keep her finger in the dike that holds back the secret sins of her past? Is lost love the price to pay for pride?

Darlene Gardner has succeeded in spinning an intriguing story based on Diana's struggle to overcome past mistakes. The story line works very well and the sub-plots reverberate the main theme as other characters come to terms with their own ways of dealing with past hurts and family pressures. While there are times you just want to shake Diana for trying to do the right thing but making the wrong decision, this story will grip your heart.
