The desperate ex-wives of Colina Linda are back in this second installment of the Ex-Wives series. Recovering from the shock of Lally Chandler snagging the most eligible billionaire in town, the other former love interests are striving to keep their lives on track. Jessica DiSantini is trying to find one good reason to keep her world famous composer boyfriend (is spine-tingling sex really good enough?), while Caitlin Latch struggles to pay the bills after getting downsized from her job at the rape crisis center. Caitlin's son is acting strange -- could it be puberty or is it a creepy Internet stalker who's out to hurt him?
Meanwhile, Lally is in the lap of luxury. So why doesn't it feel as good as it should? Being a high-profile missus sure isn't turning out the way Lally envisioned. Constant social events and fundraising can be fun, but the inability to be herself and do anything without constant scrutiny is certainly taking its toll. It doesn't help that Lally's estranged daughter has taken over her old house, changed all the locks and is blackmailing her for a tidy sum every month. What's a poor rich woman to do?
Although the elements of a juicy chick lit novel are present, this revisiting of the Colina Linda ex-wives falls a bit flat. These characters seem to be stuck in their mundane lives without most of the glitz and glamour. Hopefully, the closing to this trilogy, TO KILL A HUSBAND, will revisit the down-and-dirty side of the rich and semi- famous while serving up a suspenseful mystery.
