Veronica Jinkowsky knows better than to trust her grandfather, Frank. The sly old goat spends every alert moment trying to arrange life to suit his way of thinking. His latest is an attempt to pull her into his treasure hunting company, Jinx, Inc. In fact, he signed the company over to her.
So Veronica does what any desperate woman would do -- she seeks out her fourth ex-husband, Jake Jensen. Well, he's actually her only ex-husband. They've just been married and divorced four times. There was the Tequila Marriage, the Sappy Marriage, the Cowboy Marriage -- well, there were a lot of the damned marriages and she's damned sure there won't be another one. But she needs his help, because Frank listens to Jake. What she isn't expecting is to find Jake engaged. Much as she'd made up her mind that she wouldn't have anything to do with him ever again, despite the dastardly pull of lust that happens whenever they're in the same building, she's stunned and devastated.
Jake is moving on with his life, determined to marry someone who isn't Veronica Jinkowsky. But seeing her face, being near her, sends him into the usual tailspin and no matter what, he always comes out of that tailspin determined to have her. Hence the four marriages. Tequila. Sappy. Cowboy. And oh, yeah, the Insanity Marriage. It cannot happen again, but on the other hand, there's something that needs to be played out between them.
I loved this book. It's laugh-out-loud funny and it makes you yearn for the kind of lust/attraction/true love feelings that Jake and Ronnie have. And Frank is a terrific character. Pure fun!
