Can a girl enamored with the adventurous seas ever be content with the tame life of a Southern belle?

When her mother dies, Elizabeth Benjamin heads home to Key West, determined to transform herself into the perfect Southern belle her parents always wished her to be. But nothing goes according to plan. Her brother resents her, the servants do not obey her, and Rourke O'Malley, the dashing man she vowed to forget, refuses to relinquish his hold on her heart. Worst of all, it becomes painfully obvious that her father is not the man he appears to be.

As family secrets come to light, Elizabeth is faced with a difficult choice: to perform her duty and abandon her dreams, or to leave her life of privilege behind to chase the man her father sees as little better than a pirate.

From the first emotional page, author Christine Johnson throws you into a world of impossible choices, hidden desires, and heart-melting romance in the steamy South.

I like my heroes to have that dangerous, wild side. It makes
them stand out to me.

Heroes are admirable. Heroes are captivating, principles,
courageous and exceptional. It doesn't matter whom they are.
Cowboys have this appeal for me.
(
Sharon Berger 11:59am June 12, 2015)

High seas and cowboys. Someone who loves their parents and
animals but are strong.
(
Leona Olson 12:02pm June 12, 2015)

I love the variety of heroes out there... so many personalities to meet.
(
Colleen Conklin 1:02pm June 12, 2015)

I agree, Colleen. What a fabulous variety of heroes. I love how everyone has their own personal favorite.
(
Christine Johnson 1:22pm June 12, 2015)

I love the fact that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, with all sorts of wonderful attributes. How can one choose. I love the variety.
(
Nancy Reynolds 1:50pm June 12, 2015)

I don't have a favorite type or occupation for my heroes.
I simply expect my heroes to not be too arrogant and not
think of the heroine as 'the little woman' but cherishes
her strengths and accepts her as an equal.

I think my favorite are military men! I just love the honor they hold with
sacrificing so much for our country!

Lily Shah 6:37pm June 12, 2015)

I sometimes we look too hard to find our hero's. They are in all
walks of life. The first time I had a miscarriage, my DH took me
to the hospital in the middle of an ice storm.
(
Nancy Luebke 7:01pm June 12, 2015)

You make some great points, Irene. Nancy and Sonal, those men are definitely heroes!
(
Christine Johnson 7:24pm June 12, 2015)

I am a sucker for tortured souls, no matter the clothes they wear ;)
(
Kassandra Appel 7:39pm June 12, 2015)

I like the Cowboy hero's. They seem realistic to me & where
I grew up at, also where my Grandparents lived on a cattle
ranch. The Cowboys Are is easier to imagine coming to my
rescue!
(
Jolynn Rood 8:25pm June 12, 2015)

I love cowboys! After all, I married one almost 20 years ago (it will be 20 years August 12)
(
Suzie Quebedeaux 8:29pm June 12, 2015)

Do you favor those who sail the high seas, military men,
cowboys, highlanders or something else? What makes your
favorite hero stand head and shoulders above the rest?
Lets put these in my order of like... HIGHLANDERS, just
something about them that make you want to curl up with
them and see what is under their kilts. Lords that are
the good guy spy they have that mysterious quality to
them. Pirates just make you want to be a little
devilish. Then you have the Military and Cowboy modern
day heros that just are AAAHHHH.... but what ever the
hero they are the ones that while reading the story I
want to have for my hero.
(
Tina Ullrich 8:44pm June 12, 2015)

I like my heros in all shapes & sizes. Love those Alpha males.
:-D

the role of my book boyfriend.
(
Sharame Vodraska 2:33am June 13, 2015)

My favorite heroes are military ones. I grew up in a military
family and I know what it means to serve. And sometimes the
ones left behind are among the greatest.
(
Debra Guyette 5:05am June 13, 2015)

Thank you all for sharing your favorite heroes. Some of your posts brought a tear to my eye. Some made me cheer or nod my head. Best of all, there's a hero out there for each of us.
(
Christine Johnson 9:29am June 13, 2015)

Cowboys are the best, I love to read about them.
(
Wilma Frana 10:37am June 13, 2015)

Until being asked this question I never even realized that I
had a preference because I've always liked my book boyfriend
spicy & intriguing with lots of variety in each adventure. As
I delve deeper in thought though it dawns on me that I do perk
up more when there's a hero that's brave, in a role that
serves & protects, that swoops in to save the day. Thanks for
the opportunity to win & good luck to all who enter!!!:)

(

I definitely love highlanders the most. I love the dangerous, edgy feel they
have, but also the old world charm and values they often display. Of
course the kilts are a huge plus as well.
(
Becky R 10:53am June 15, 2015)

I love the country cowboys , ranchers , farmers . They are hard workers , and not afraid to try something new or different . They can get nasty dirty then clean-up good looking and sexy.
(
Joan Thrasher 11:02am June 15, 2015)

I love military men. They come in contact with alot of obsticles
that we everyday people never will and it's exciting to read about
them

castles.
(
Denise Austin 3:13pm June 15, 2015)

I love the cowboy heroes
(
Jean Patton 3:24pm June 15, 2015)

I really can't pick one certain type of hero. I'm of the opinion, like several others that have posted, that he needs to be strong but caring.
(
Sheri Pruitt 5:13pm June 15, 2015)

I love meant types of heroes with Highlanders being # 1.They
are true warriors from another time. No matter how rough or
rugged they sftill have compassion and tenderness when it
comes to their ladies. :).All the heroes seem to posess humor,
loyalty and honesty. Thanks so much for this chance.
