Responsible, practical Miss Hermione Rogers, has been
crafting stories as the notorious Mr. Michael Michaelmas and
selling them for a meager wage to support her siblings. The
only real way to ensure her family’s ruinous debts are
paid, however, is to marry. Tall, thin, and plain, she has
no expectation of success. In London for her first Season
she seizes the chance to write the tale of a brooding duke.
In her research, she finds Sebastian Fitzhugh, the 5th Duke
of Mallen, who unfortunately is perfectly affable, charming,
and so nicely… configured… he takes her breath
away. He lacks all the character traits she needs for her
story, but alas, any duke will have to do. Sebastian
Fitzhugh, the 5th Duke of Mallen has been deceived so many
times during the high-stakes game of courtship, he’s
lost faith in society women. Yet, after a chance encounter
with Hermione, he finds himself intrigued. Not a woman
he’d normally consider beautiful, the young
lady’s practical bent, her forthright nature and her
tendency to turn up in the oddest places has his
interests… roused. He’d like to trust her,
he’d like to do a whole lot more with her too, but
should he?
I like what I've read so far regarding this story.
hmmm... the last heroine I truly fell in love with? ok. Riley St. Claire from the book Choosing Riley by SE Smith. she was sassy, didn't take no crap, and toted a handbag full of crap. (Angela Parrish 10:59am February 10, 2015)
My husband was the last hero with whom I fell in love and no on can ever replace him. (Sharon Berger 11:24am February 10, 2015)
I'm kind of a "blue stocking" who loves reading, geology & archeology. I'd say Indiana Jones was the last hero I fell in book love with. Awesome blurb for ONCE A WALLFLOWER, AT LAST HIS LOVE. I think I'm going to get the book.
I recently read a short story and I loved the hero, the heroine and her pet ferret! They were such interesting characters that made me smile. (Colleen Conklin 12:13pm February 10, 2015)
Thank you so much, Angela! And I love the sounds of that heroine Riley! (Coincidentally, one of my own girls is a Riley!) : ) (Christi Caldwell 12:14pm February 10, 2015)
Sharon, that is so, so beautiful! (Christi Caldwell 12:14pm February 10, 2015)
I always connect with the bluestocking as well, Mina! Thanks for checking out my latest book! Hugs! (Christi Caldwell 12:15pm February 10, 2015)
That sounds like an intriguing read, Colleen!! (Christi Caldwell 12:16pm February 10, 2015)
Sounds like a great read. Thanks. (Pam Howell 12:26pm February 10, 2015)
The last Hero that I fell in with fell in love with his Heroine when he was just a young boy. To condense the book as much as I can, WWII broke out, and they got separated. In order for him to look for her, because he was of German descent, and she was Jewish, he joined the Nazi party, and began to search for her. He continued the search, but never found her. He was heartbroken, because he thought that she had been put in one of the furnaces. Does he find out the truth????? Does he find her??? Would you like to read the book??? It's an unforgettable read, and the name of the book is - Finding Rebecca by Eoin Dempsey. Anyone I have given the book to to read has loved it. I'm looking forward to reading your book as well. Congratulations!! (Peggy Roberson 1:29pm February 10, 2015)
The last hero i fell in love with was my husband. He is a fireman and dedicated father. No book bboyfriend (or other man) could ever compare. (Rachel Collings 11:54am February 11, 2015)
Would love to read one of your books. I am always looking for new authors to read. (Jackie Wisherd 6:03pm February 11, 2015)
I love Julie Garwood's FOR THE ROSES. I no longer remember the names, but I loved Rose and her eventual husband and her 'brothers' who raised her. (Carol Woodruff 7:11pm February 11, 2015)
Oh my. I fell in love with Jamie Frazier more than 20 years ago and since the series came out on STARZ, there has been no reason to change my mind! Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. (Marcia Berbeza 7:49pm February 11, 2015)
I'm looking forward to reading this story, Christi!
I'm almost finished reading NO MATTER WHAT by Erin Nicholas and I adore the hero, Adam Steele. He's a single father of a teenage daughter who recently lost the lower half of one leg due to cancer. He sounds like you described yourself...he'll do anything for her. :-) (Marcy Shuler 8:28pm February 11, 2015)
My husband was the last hero I fell in love with.He was a soldier when we met then when he came home he looked like a bad boy cowboy & continued being a soldier in the National Guard (Teresa Miller 10:03pm February 11, 2015)
Mr Darcy is my favorite hero. (Pam Howell 9:46am February 12, 2015)
Mr. Darcy! I love brooding heroes :) (No Way 10:11am February 12, 2015)
LOVE YOUR STORIES!
Captain Wentworth for the win. (Seanna Yeager 12:54pm February 12, 2015)
I sure would like to have a chance to read this book. It sure does sound like a very very good book and I hope I win but GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERS! (Renae Kelly 1:15pm February 12, 2015)
Last hero I fell in love with is Christian Prescott from Unearthly. He's just imperfect and flawed in a way that makes him perfect in his own sense. Doesn't let a girl take over his life. Smart, which is everything I look for. Why do I always fall for people from books? (Zahraa Hammoud 1:27pm February 12, 2015)
This is sad but I recently lost my hsuband and he was my hero. He knew his time was close, said he was at peace and left us taking care of things and me until the end. I love a hero who loves and takes care of his own in books and real life. (Leona Olson 5:32pm February 12, 2015)
The last hero I fell in love with...alludes me right now but the FIRST hero I fell in love with is from the classic drama "Return of the Condor Heroes 1983" (Lisa L. 9:23pm February 12, 2015)
sounds intriguing. (Linda Phillips 11:55pm February 12, 2015)
This sounds like a great book and I sure would like to have a chance to read it but I would like to say, "GOOD LUCK" to who all enters!! (but I do hope to win) (Renae Kelly 9:53am February 13, 2015)
My last hero was my husband. I met him after he returned from WWII. I would enjoy reading about the interesting wallflower in your book. I hope I'm a winner. (Anna Speed 12:00pm February 13, 2015)
I love the description of this book. I really want to read it. (Heather Rizzuti 12:21pm February 13, 2015)
this sounds like a story that will really touch my heart. I relate to being a wallflower, and love it when authors bring in a unusual subject like a character with special needs. (Diane Sallans 1:51pm February 13, 2015)
All of the ingredients for a perfect read! (Denise Austin 2:45pm February 13, 2015)
I have never read one of your books yet. Hope I win. (Judy Ferguson 6:41pm February 13, 2015)
This story sound so great, thanks for the chance. (Janie Prather 8:43pm February 13, 2015)
The hero I fell in love with is Jamie Frasier from Outlander. (Angela Daffern 9:51pm February 13, 2015)
Love good books (Kelly Knapp 11:27pm February 13, 2015)
Last book hero I fell for was Ransome William Dacre Vane, the Duke of Rothbury, in Tessa Dare's Romancing the Duke. He was partially blinded but still able to recognize the right things to do for himself and Izzy. The last hero I fell in love with was my submariner husband 30 years ago, and I fortunately can still hug him today. (Mary McCoy 4:30pm February 14, 2015)
I pretty much fall in love with all the heroes of the romances I read, but as they say you never forget your first love---Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. And for probably the only time I can recollect he was just as good on film as in the book! (Flora Presley 4:30pm February 19, 2015)
