In the close-knit community of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland,
Susie O’Brien and Mack Franklin’s “not dating” claim
befuddles everyone, especially since the two spend every
spare minute together. Susie’s thrilled when their
friendship finally heats up. Then, just when
happily-ever-after seems within reach, Mack loses the job he
loves and Susie faces a devastating diagnosis. But O’Briens
always unite in a crisis. Even her cousin Jess, Susie’s
rival for most of their lives, becomes her staunchest
supporter — especially when Mack’s former lover comes to
town. The stakes are higher than ever before, but Susie’s
definitely up to the challenge…as long as Mack’s right there
by her side.
I really enjoyed Beach Lane. I found it very hard to put down this latest installment of the Chesapeake Shores series. I was pleased to see how Mack and Susie let their chemistry flow, and worked out their issues, when so many would have given up.
I'm hoping that there will be more Chesapeake Shores to come in the future! (Sandi Shilhanek 7:08pm April 24, 2011)
Of all the O'Brians, I went in to this book feeling like I knew very little about Susie. The only thing I was clear on was that she and Mack were "just friends." I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy this book since I didn't feel particularly connected with the characters. Thanks to Ms. Woods deft writing, that changed quickly. It is clear that Mack and Susie are meant to be together, they just need to trust it for themselves. Circumstances force them to step up and fight for the future they both long for. Beach Lane is romantic, heartbreaking, and tender... Chesapeake Shores at its best! (Maria Munoz 9:28pm May 2, 2011)
I can't get through Sherryl Woods's books fast enough, and I'm waiting for more. Great writing without all that stuff that other authors seem to think that they need to write about. (Jean Mangels 12:35pm May 13, 2011)
Beach Lane was my favorite of this year's O'Brien Trilogy. I think that both Mack and Susie truly came into their own in this story, and was enchanted from the beginning to the end. I became a fan of Ms. Woods with her Sweet Magnolia's series, and Beach Lane has cemented my fandom. (Sandi Shilhanek 9:25am June 8, 2011)
