Re: Phantom Evil
I'm intrigued by the premise of Ms. Graham's new series which combines Ghost-hunters with Romantic Suspense. Jackson Crowe is called to head a new government team of paranormal investigators. Team members include mostly 20-something men and women with skills in a variety of areas, including an illusionist and videographer. Angela Hawkins stands out because of her age (30-something) and her psychic ability. As Angela and Jackson work together to solve a murder, they also work to come to terms with their mutual attraction.
I am curious to see how this series develops, as I like the premise and Ms. Graham is a gifted storyteller. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed with this story. In some ways, it felt unfinished or shallow, possible an artifact of introducing a new premise and a new team. I never really brought in to the relationship between Jackson and Angela. The mystery had some interesting twists and turns, but the characters seemed vague. I was never really clear on why that particular team had been assembled. I would give the next book a try, just to see if the promise of the premise is fulfilled.
