Her friends called her Pippin, and she was a striking
creature with fair flawless skin, slanting emerald eyes, and
a curling mass of reddish-gold hair.
Her appearance alone was enough to shock the tame Scottish
countryside. But then there was her behavior to whisper
about as well--stopping at a public inn owned by the
scandalous Lord Afton. He may have been in flight from the
drawing rooms of London, but he was certainly far from
abandoning the suave and devilish ways he had learned there.
And so they talked about Pippin and her daring escapades.
