The fairy tale courtship did not turn into a happily-ever-
after…
Not until her husband dropped dead, that is. The earl had
been horrible enough to Christiana during their short
marriage, so rather than mourn his passing, she decides to
put her late husband on ice and go on as if nothing's
happened...
Until the real earl appears. Richard came to confront the
villainous twin brother who had robbed him of name and
title, but with the lout already dead, he quietly assumes
his brother's identity instead. Now he must deal with his
consuming desire for his ravishing inherited "wife"-
certainly a gold digger and possibly a murderess-while
Christiana must deal with her dashing
unwanted "husband"...and both must figure out what to do
when the ice melts!
This is a wonderful book, I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait to read the next installment. (Faye McMichael 9:31am February 24, 2011)
Only Lynsay Sands could take a story of a marriage which might not be a legal marriage and turn it into a amusing tale. Christiana has been very disappointed by her marriage. Her husband is a mean, manipulative, abusive man who has isolated her from her family and society. Her sisters arrive unexpectedly and it starts a battle between the couple. Christiana was married off when her father incurs large gambling debts which he cannot pay. Now, her father is in debt again. He has lost an enormous amount of money while he doesn't remember playing at all. Now, his debts force his second daughter to find a husband.
When they find her husband dead, Christiana decides to take her sisters to a ball. After all, the situation is dire and no one knows that her husband is dead. When her husband walks into the ball with a friend Christiana has never met, she nearly faints. What transpires is an entertaining story with a search for a murderer as a secondary plot.
