Romance Suspense

With a serial rapist loose on the streets of Savannah, hot- shot detective Ryne Robel needs all the help he can get for his task force. And he needs it now, before another woman falls victim. But Abbie Phillips isn't what he bargained for. Sent from an exclusive group of the best criminologists in the country, she's smart, fierce...and distracting. She may be a brilliant forensic profiler, but Ryne needs answers, not psychobabble and head games.

However, Abbie convinces him that head games are exactly what this elusive suspect is all about. The seemingly random acts of torture are actually calculated to match each victim's darkest fears. And the stakes are rising. While they study the devious psychopath, he's watching them- -the next object of his horrifying obsession.

Don't consider doing anything but writing. Love you books. Pat W.
(Pat Wilson 11:47am July 21, 2009)

Dont quit being a writer. Its awesome to have found what you are good at and love doing.

At the end of a day I would want to be doing something in the non-famous side of entertainment.

This book sounds so good! Keep writing!
(
Joanne Reynolds 6:26am July 22, 2009)

At the end of a day I just want to be retired! (But you should keep writing!)
(
Sandy Miresse 8:05am July 22, 2009)

I agree with the previous commenter: I'd love to be retired; but I do love my job, I work in a bookstore and get to see so many new books that come out
(
Diane Sadler 8:58am July 22, 2009)

At the end of the day everything sounds like too much work so I would just like the next day off.
(
Maureen Emmons 9:36am July 22, 2009)

Thanks, Pat! People like you make it all worthwhile :)

Donna, ooh like costuming and make up. That might be fun. Now if I could just learn to apply my own makeup evenly, I'd be on my way, LOL!

Stacey, book 2 (Waking Evil) has a tiny supernatural aspect to it and I LOVED that research. Very intriguing!

Thanks, Joanne :) If all goes well today I'll be back at it!

Sandy and Diane, retirement does sound good some days. But mostly I'd just like to retire from one of my jobs and write full time. A bookstore--now why didn't I think of that????

Maureen, I've long been a proponent of three day weekends, LOL!
(
Kylie Brant 9:49am July 22, 2009)

I'd love to be a paid book reviewer. I've always loved reading and recently added to my hobby by reviewing them.
(
Sarah Keery 9:51am July 22, 2009)

OOh a paid book reviewer that would be awesome, Sarah. I think the perfect job would be to own a bookstore.
(
Breia Brickey 10:01am July 22, 2009)

I enjoyed your comments. Maybe they could be the start of a new book - how to pick a job, or something like that :>)
(
Karin Tillotson 10:15am July 22, 2009)

Ooh I have always wanted to be an Assistant to an author...proofreading, research and typing the manuscript. I also think that owning a bookstore who be great...must play the lottery!
(
Debra Knotts 10:15am July 22, 2009)

I'd like to retire and spend my days reading and rescuing cats. Reading with cats on my lap is the perfect end to any kind of day for me!
(
Anne Jones 10:20am July 22, 2009)

I always thought I'd like to have a little used book store. I could sit behind the counter and read or work on my craft projects. I could sell homemade bookmarks and other related reading items. There could be a corner especially for children so my grandkids could spend some time there with me. And I could have a place for people to form a book club or just sit and visit.
(
LuAnn Morgan 10:30am July 22, 2009)

i'd like to have a little bookstore, with a section with tables and chairs, serving coffe or tea and pastries!
(
JoAnn White 10:38am July 22, 2009)

At the end of the day I dream of having the job of being the person who sets up umbrellas on the beach and rents them out.
(
Vikki Parman 11:51am July 22, 2009)

Sarah and Breia, I think you're both on the right track! That's something I'd love doing when I retire from teaching (but still writing). Being a reviewer would give me a reason to *have* to make time for reading again!
(
Kylie Brant 11:53am July 22, 2009)

Karin, you never know--everything is material to a writer, LOL!

Debra, I could certainly use an assistant! Just someone to keep my desk de-junked would be a huge help!

Anne, I just saw a cat in need of your help on my walk today. I'm always saddened by how many seem to live outdoors in the wild.

LuAnn and Jo--that sounds like a plan! And a well-thought out one at that!

Vikki--anything with a beach and I'm there!
(
Kylie Brant 11:56am July 22, 2009)

Seems all creative individuals are subject to 'running ino the wall'.Hope your experience is over quickly-thanks so much for your stories.
(
Dawn Raymer 12:17pm July 22, 2009)

Dawn, I swear writers have a battery life and need to be recharged at regular intervals, LOL! At least that's how I explain it to my husband!
(
Kylie Brant 12:27pm July 22, 2009)

I'm currently a homemaker and part time reviewer. If I could have any job in the world, I'd want to be a proofreader. I'd even do it for free as long as I got the final copy of the book in the end. Of course, I'd want the book signed by the author as well. Have a great day.
(
Roberta Harwell 12:40pm July 22, 2009)

At the end of a bad day, I just want to either win the lottery or marry someone rich! Most days, it would be a job where I never deal with the public again! But owning a bookstore of my own or working in a large (like a university) library would also be my ideal!
(
Kelli Jo Calvert 12:47pm July 22, 2009)

Owning my own bookstore would be my ultimate job. Then maybe I would always have a book when I'm ready to read.
(
Sherry Strode 1:03pm July 22, 2009)

Roberta, you're hired :) My pet peeve at galley stage is seeing all the word repeats I have--drives me crazy that I missed them in copy edits!

Kelli--I'll admit it...I spend my share of time dreaming of the lottery. Now if I could just remember to buy the tickets...!

Sherry, owning a bookstore sounds like heaven. Then I could promote the books I felt strongly about as well as read to my heart's content!
(
Kylie Brant 1:07pm July 22, 2009)

Remember! You just have to... I would tell you to listen for ringing bells but I think that for when angels get their wings. I know that I get my best ideas reading, dreaming and even day dreaming. Sometimes I make up random words just so that I have something to write.
(
Tabatha Basham 1:14pm July 22, 2009)

I'd like to work in a flower shop or nursery where I could bring my dog & not have to get dressed up. Very laid back.
(
Donna Petrilla 1:17pm July 22, 2009)

At the end of the day I think being a lottery winner, and having someone to do the cooking and cleaning for me so I can sit home and read to my heart's delight sounds like a great job!

My closer reality would be getting back into a classroom and influencing the little minds of today, into becoming great minds of tomorrow. Each year when the new school year starts up again, and I work on updating curriculum for my staff I realize how much fun I'm not having working as an administrator instead of in a classroom.
(
Sandi Shilhanek 1:28pm July 22, 2009)

Tabatha, when I'm stuck it often helps me to get out and walk. I walk four miles a day several times a week and rarely do I take my iPod. It's my time to think through plot snarls and smooth out the next scene.

Donna-we stopped at the info desk in the Reagan airport and the man there had his dog with him. We were surprised and asked how he got away with that. He said simply, "I never asked permission." LOL!

Sandi, my other job is teaching so August is approaching a little too fast for me! But I'm a handful of years a way from qualifying for early retirement and I wonder if I'm going to be able to walk away from it....
(
Kylie Brant 1:50pm July 22, 2009)

Well, besides being the Powerball Winner, my second choice would be a writer, followed by a private chef.
(
Josie Roetemeyer 1:52pm July 22, 2009)

I would like to be video game tester. Seems like a fun job.
(
Jane Cheung 2:43pm July 22, 2009)

I would love to own a little scrapbooking, papercrafting, stamping store and have classes, but in today's economy, many are closing, so at
the end of the day, I can at least dream of that day.
(
Carolyn Sharkas 3:42pm July 22, 2009)

Josie, I know I sometimes felt like a chef when my five kids were at home. But the Powerball winner doesn't sound bad!

Jane, I always wondered who they got for those jobs? Someone has to do it!

Carolyn, that sounds like a nice little shop. But you're right, yikes, in this economy any type of small business sounds risky doesn't it?
(
Kylie Brant 4:14pm July 22, 2009)

This is a fun contest. Thanks!
Marjorie
(
Marjorie Carmony 5:12pm July 22, 2009)

When I'm at the end of a really frustrating day I think of how nice to be a teacher But only during the summer months.... as during the school year I know I could never do their job and am willing to stay with my tired feet and frustrated mind as a nurse.....
(
Cec Smith 5:30pm July 22, 2009)

Margorie, any distraction from my writing is a welcome one, LOL!
(
Kylie Brant 5:30pm July 22, 2009)

I think I would like to work in a book store. Then you would be surrounded by what we all love
(
Gail Hurt 5:32pm July 22, 2009)

Your book sounds wonderful! I think I would also like a book store. Except that it would be really hard to make up my mind what I would want to read first. LOL.
(
Sue Brandes 6:23pm July 22, 2009)

Gail and Sue, a bookstore does sound wonderful. But I would only want employees that are as passionate about books as I am. No 'this is just a job to me' people need apply!
(
Kylie Brant 6:25pm July 22, 2009)

Roberta - me too! I have a huge collection of autographed copies. Kylie would love to be your assistant - paid or for free.
(
Debra Knotts 7:43pm July 22, 2009)

What a neat question you ask. I don't even know the title but after a difficult day at work I dream about being one of those people who work "undercover-like" checking out all of the services of a hotel as well as evaluating all aspects of their hotel stay. I understand that it is a real job. Just imagine having the responsibility of thoroughly indulging in room service, the gym area, spa and massage services. Am certain I could be very dedicated to my job. Of course, there wouldn't be any real downtime...evenings I would be diligently eating meals from the different restaurants of the hotel. Truly, I would suffer all of that without complaint.
(
G. Bisbjerg 9:15pm July 22, 2009)

It's been a crazy house here for the past two weeks.Number 2 daughter got married and the day before we had to move the cermony to the house becuse my husband hurt his back and he's handicap to begin with. Thank goodness my house was clean.Number 1 daughter was here for 10 days with her 2 youngest from NJ. They lefy tis afternoon to go to SeaWorld for a few days before flying home. I' ready to sit back and relax with a good book.
(
Evelyn Day 9:41pm July 22, 2009)

When I have a bad day, I think about
retiring. I have no benefits, so retire
sort of means quit. I really like my job
(children's librarian) but I plan
programs and no one shows up. We
have all tried everything we can think
of to improve attendance, but so far
no luck. I would really like to stay
home and get this mess of a house
straightened and work in my garden.
We've been renovating since 1992 and
have been moving boxes and furniture
around forever. You kind of get used
to the mess. If I stopped working,
though, I would really miss the kids.
(
Patricia Barraclough 10:29pm July 22, 2009)

Debra, you can start with my desk, LOL. My husband considers any flat surface in the house to be a personal challenge--how high can he pile it!

G. Bisbjerg--don't you wonder how people came by those jobs? How did they ever know they were even around to apply for? I could do that. I'll sacrifice along with you :)

Evelyn--you deserve a break! Hope you take it!
(
Kylie Brant 10:31pm July 22, 2009)

Patricia--I feel for you. Keep trying--those kids need the programs you offer!
(
Kylie Brant 10:59pm July 22, 2009)

The first job I ever wanted when I was a child was to run a snowcone stand! That still sounds pretty good in this hot weather.
(
G S Moch 11:07pm July 22, 2009)

Well, I work in the library, so that's a pretty cool job! If I didn't do that then the next best thing would be having my own bookstore!!I'm so looking forward to Waking Nightmares - it sounds wonderful!!
(
Martha Lawson 11:40pm July 22, 2009)

I think owning a bookstore would be great.
(
Crystal Broyles 9:58am July 23, 2009)

I work at a Library and LOVE my job but would enjoy having my own bookstore/coffeeshop
(
Teresa Ward 8:02pm July 23, 2009)

Follow your passion whatever you decide.
Not all of us are lucky enough to have a
passion.
(
Sue Ahn 10:43pm July 23, 2009)

hmmmm very curious about your new book !!!
(
Joeelle Jappissont 12:26pm July 24, 2009)

There are alot of times when I think being a hermit who lives miles away from anyone sounds great....can that be an occupation?
(
Patsy Hagen 7:03pm August 2, 2009)

I LOVE ALL YOUR BOOKS AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT. THIS ONE SOUNDS GREAT
