Novella / Short Story

Going on a date is terrifying for most people. And flying blind naturally adds to the pressure. We never know what to expect. Do people go by their real names on Tinder? Do they reveal their actual age? Are the photos even real? Melissa and Jeremy find out in Blind Date.

The story examines the pitfalls of modern online dating through a comedic lens. Melissa and Jeremy both choose to hide their true identities by using someone else's photo on their profiles. Their mutual deception leads to significant confusion at a local restaurant when they fail to recognise one another. The situation reaches a peak of awkwardness when third parties become involved, exposing the pair's dishonesty. Ultimately, the encounter serves as a satirical critique of the lack of authenticity and trust in contemporary digital romance. Underneath the humour, it highlights how cowardice and caution can sabotage potential human connections.
