Susan Westmoreland
An award-winning chef and well-known journalist, Susan Westmoreland is responsible for planning and producing Good Housekeeping's food features. She hosts a video blog that tackles the age-old question, "What's for dinner tonight?" She also manages the editorial test kitchen, where the hundreds of recipes that appear in the magazine each year are developed and perfected through triple testing.
Westmoreland's contribution to Good Housekeeping extends beyond its magazine and books. She produces and appears in monthly television pieces for Good Housekeeping Reports, a syndicated news service featuring tests and consumer news from the Good Housekeeping Institute. She has also made numerous appearances on NBC's Today Show, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, Food Network's Cooking Live with Sara Moulton, and Home Cooking with Amy Coleman. Westmoreland has also done countless radio interviews including All Things Considered, The Leonard Lopate Show on NPR, Heloise's syndicated show and food talk shows in local markets around the country. In 2001, Susan was named The James Beard Foundation’s Editor of the Year. A 25-year veteran of the magazine and publishing industries, Westmoreland was Associate Food Editor at Ladies' Home Journal for six years before joining Good Housekeeping. Prior to that, she held editorial positions at Seventeen, Glamour, and Cuisine. Food has always been a part of Westmoreland's life, before entering the publishing profession; she was a chef in Long Island, Massachusetts, and Greece. She remains an active member of the food community and has served on the Board of Directors of Les Dames d'Escoffier and the New York Women's Culinary Alliance. Other memberships include and the James Beard Foundation and IACP. Westmoreland lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and son.
