Jenna Jones gets a divorce for her fortieth birthday from
her "starving artist" husband Damien. Since she has been
the primary bread winner in the family for the past
fifteen years, she gets to pay him spousal support. How
is this fair? Her great aunt Edie sends her a birthday
card, along with a letter telling Jenna that she wants
her to come to Moonlight Harbor and help Edie run her
motel, The Driftwood Inn. Edie also tells Jenna she is
leaving the motel to her in her will.
Jenna packs up her belongs, along with her fourteen year
old daughter Sabrina and heads to the beach for a new
beginning. Sabrina goes kicking and screaming, telling
Jenna she is the worst mom ever. Ahhh ... teenage hormones!
When Jenna and Sabrina arrive, they are in for a
surprise. The motel that Jenna remembers from her
childhood visits is in shambles. The roof is leaking, the
entire building needs a new coat of paint, as well as
every room, and they need new carpet and various other
repairs. How is Jenna going to make this place habitable
and profitable?
WELCOME TO MOONLIGHT HARBOR is the first book in a new
series by Sheila Roberts. Although Jenna vows she is
finished with men, there seem to be plenty in this cozy
little beach town who are interested in her. The
characters in Moonlight Harbor are a sundry lot, but
bring some interesting perspectives to the table. Jenna
is strong, resilient and resourceful. The plot takes
several unexpected twists and turns on its way to a
delightful ending. This is a story about reshaping your
life and finding a rainbow in every storm. It's hard to
grow up at any age, as both Jenna and Sabrina are quickly
learning. Their mother/daughter relationship is a dicey
one throughout the story. Ms. Roberts includes some of
the recipes mentioned in this charming story at the end
of the book. Can't wait to see what life has in store for
Jenna in Moonlight Harbor. It seems there may be some
cross-over with Ms. Roberts Icicle Falls series. What
fun!
USA TODAY bestselling author
Sheila Roberts returns with a brand-new series set on the
charming Washington coast
Once happily married, Jenna Jones is about to turn forty,
and this year for her birthday—lucky her—she’s getting a
divorce. She’s barely able to support herself and her
teenage daughter, but now her deadbeat artist ex is hitting
her up for spousal support…and then spending it on his
“other” woman.
Still, as her mother always says, every storm brings a
rainbow. And when she gets a very unexpected gift from her
great-aunt Edie, things seem to be taking a turn for the
better. Aging Aunt Edie is finding it difficult to keep up
her business running The Driftwood Inn, so she invites Jenna
to come live with her and run the place. It looks like
Jenna’s financial problems are solved!
Or not. The town is a little more run-down than Jenna
remembers, but that’s nothing compared to the ramshackle
state of The Driftwood Inn. Aunt Edie is confident they can
return it to its former glory, though Jenna feels like she’s
jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the beach fire.
But who knows? With the help of her new friends and a couple
of handsome citizens, perhaps that rainbow is on the horizon
after all. Because, no matter what, life is always good at
the beach.
Featuring all the warmth, romance and trademark
humor of Sheila Roberts’s writing, this new series will
delight longtime fans and welcome a generation of new
readers.
