Marina Adair welcomes readers back to the fictional town of Sugar, Georgia in SUGAR ON TOP. As the second book in the series, Adair amps up the Southern charm and creates and fun and sexy story for Glory and Cal.
Glory finds herself in a little bit of trouble when she is arrested. Cal, a single father to a teenager, bails her out and this starts a whole new slew of problems for Cal because the last thing he needs is another troublemaker in his life like Glory.
As my first book by Marina Adair, I found her writing to be a refreshing splash of charm and sexiness. With the character's light banter and fiery personalities, it's easy to fall in love with Adair's characters, especially if you enjoy the small-town feel of Contemporaries and enjoy Southern humor. Fans of Jill Shalvis and Maisey Yates would enjoy Adair's Sugar, Georgia series.
The heroine, Glory is the strongest point of this book. With her sassiness, she definitely gives Cal a lot to deal with. However, I enjoyed watching their interaction. It's clear from the very beginning that they are attracted to one another and as that gets explored more, their tension soon blooms into this fiery ball of passion that explodes on the page. Paired with the flirty humor and you've got a story that is as sweet and sultry as the cover!
