Tilly Ledet has been a friend of the immortal, shape- shifting warriors who follow the Lady of the Beasts and had willingly helped in their battle against Hades. But now Hades is free and even if he is unable to touch the warriors or their mated women, Tilly and anyone like her is fair game. It might take the FLAME OF THE PHOENIX to protect her and that is just what she will have.
When Phoenix shows up insisting that she drop everything and go into hiding, she at first balks but then relents. The immortal is strong, courageous, and drop dead gorgeous but whenever she thinks of being in his arms protective barriers slam over her heart.
For the first time in his immortal life, Phoenix feels fear. Not for himself but for this one woman who heats his mind and body as no one ever has. While one kiss easily ignites her passion, claiming her will take a sacrifice that might send them both up in flames.
FLAME OF THE PHOENIX is scorching hot! Phoenix and Tilly make for a fascinating couple and at first I wasn't sure how they could manage to be together because let's face it very often two equally strong people tend to repel each other. But, of course, they certainly managed very satisfactorily to be together. Tilly has her flaws and fears but she stands up for herself and for those she cares about, she just had to get past some baggage from her childhood. Phoenix wants her and will do whatever he has to do to keep her out of Hades' hands, even if it kills her. It is fascinating what one will do to protect those you love from hell itself.FLAME OF THE PHOENIX is the sixth of the Hades Carnival series by author N.J. Walters and each book gives you the same amazing feelings but still managing to be fresh and vibrant. On a personal note I had wondered about the woman who had rescued Phoenix from the curse and that was explained nicely and of course it works out really agreeably for Tilly. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and cannot wait to get my hands of the next one!
