SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME by Jerrie Alexander is a short story but it comes with a huge plot. Stacey McKinney goes back home to Texas, hiding from a man who won't take no for an answer. He stalks her, confronts her, verbally abuses her, and she knows it is time to disappear. He knows nothing of where she grew up, so she figures she is safe back there. Not long after she is back, she runs into her old high school love, Cash Butler.

When they were seventeen, they were happy and in love. Until one day, Cash up and leaves. Stacey is crushed and vows to never fall for Cash again. Well, guess what happens when she sees him after all these years?? Yup!! When Cash left, he went into the Army and became an Army Ranger. He had done a lot of growing up and is no longer the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Will he get the chance to prove that to Stacey? Will her father, who basically ran him out of town, ever see that he is not who he thought he was? Will he ever have another shot at love with Stacey?

When Stacey's past follows her home, Cash is very protective of her and insists on her staying at his home. It also just happens to be the house Stacey grew up in. At first, Stacey refuses his offer as she is afraid she is putting Cash in danger. The boy at the bar where she works, and keeps trying to date her, winds up dead, as does her landlady. Stacey knows it is because of her and doesn't want any harm to come to Cash or his workers at the ranch. Cash doesn't give up and finally she relents and stays at his ranch.

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME is a quick read, but, it really held my interest. I found the story well written with just enough romance and lots of suspense. The romantic tension between Cash and Stacey is perfect and keeps you turning the pages. I was quickly caught up in Stacey and Cash's business and found myself cheering for Cash. I really wanted him to win his girl back! I can't wait to read more by Jerrie Alexander.

SUMMARY

Stacey McKinney returned to her home town to escape a stalker. When people around her turn up dead, she fears he's found her. Is the maniac keeping his threat by killing off anyone who gets close to her?

That isn't the only risk in town. The man who broke her heart has also come home. Their attraction is stronger and hotter than ever, but he walked away once. She doesn't trust he won't do it again.

A bullet ended Cash Butler's career as an Army Ranger. His life on his horse ranch is without complications until he hears Stacey is in town. He was a kid when her dad used his wealth and power to drive him away. He's not that kid any longer.

When Stacey goes missing, a search proves her stalker followed her to Oak Hill. But he's dead. Who killed him? And who has Stacey?
