Cecelia Hewitt was not happy when Marcus Thorne left her. In
fact, she was completely heartbroken. Now, six months later,
they are reunited in the human world, but fae politics,
family troubles, and sheer stubbornness may keep them apart
forever.
THE MAGIC BETWEEN US mixes the magic of the fae world with
historical Britain and tops it off with a love that may
never work. Tammy Falkner writes with a smooth, enjoyable
style that keeps you reading. The plot flows easily and
logically, and it has a unique twist to it that I didn't
expect. I appreciate the surprising depth in the plot in
terms of family ties and values. It frames the drama of the
romance very well.
Though the plot is solid, I'm not as sold on the characters.
They all have some characteristics that I really like, but
others that I'm not a fan of. Marcus and Cecelia are both
lovable and caring, but they lack common sense when it comes
to each other. At first, it's sweet as a reflection on how
love has blinded them so much, but it gets less charming the
more it happens in the story. The side romance between
Cecelia's friend and Marcus's brother is predictable, but
again, sweet. I found myself wishing that the characters'
personalities matched the depth of the plot.
The characters are almost a breaking point in the story, but
the writing style and plot make it worth the read. The
little details about the fae world as well as the historical
world are subtle and intriguing as well. In the end, I do
like the story, and I would read more of Tammy Falkner's
works, but I wouldn't be on the edge of my seat waiting for
another book. If you enjoy romances with magical and
historical elements, I would say THE MAGIC BETWEEN US is
worth a try.
Love triumphs over all differences...even those of
wings and magic
Marcus Thorne was groomed to
be one of the Trusted Few in the land of the fae, but now he
must step into his father's title in the British ton.
Cecelia Hewitt, a half fae/half human, has always lived in
the human world and is not accustomed to wings and magic.
Completely unprepared for their new positions, Marcus and
Cecelia strike up a partnership to teach each other about
their respective worlds. In the process, they discover they
have more in common than they ever expected-including a
burning mutual attraction.
