After reading "Holiday Buzz" by Cleo Coyle, I put on about
10 pounds, inhaled more cookies and coffee then ever
before! Cleo Coyle is a dynamo in writing mysteries
and I most certainly look forward
to reading many more of her works. '
Yesterday, I visited my
grandchildren, eyeing a box of cookies that had been
sitting on my passenger seat, I had to clip my nose
between my thumb and pointer fingers and bring them into
my grandchildren. Oh how I wanted to sink my teeth into
those yummy cookies! Ok, Ok, let's get to the great
mystery that Cleo Coyle has written and forget about the
cookies and coffee for now, for Cleo Coyle is one heck of a
mystery writer!
Clare Cosi owns the Village Blend where
her busy little baristas are hard at work at the Great New
York Cookie Swap. At the Cookie Swap, overwhelmed by
attendance of customers, Care takes a break, and she goes
for a short walk. Even though it's very cold outside she's
enjoying the big turn out, but stumbles over something, and
at her mortification she discovers the dead body of
Moirin Faigan an assistant for her and another baker.
The NYPD is now working on the case, as Moirin's body lies
on the ground with blood pooling all around her. Clare is
shocked and stunned by such a horrific crime, especially to
someone she knows well, at least she thinks she knows
Moirin well (Moirin had worked for both Clare and
another baker) but many surprises leak out and Clare is
finding some gossip hard to believe about Moirin.
Even
though NYPD is on the case, so are Clare and her friends,
as they work behind the scenes to try to trap who had
murdered Moirin. Also, the NYPD is narrowing down on the
serial killer "The Christmas Stalkings", where as Clare
does not believe it's the same person who has killed
Moririn. As Clare and her friends go on a chase to find the
real murderer of Moririn, many more woman will be left dead
in their wake of murders and Clair's at the top of the list.
The only blocking stone in Clare's search for the Killer is
Detective Fletcher Endicott A.K.A. Mr. DNA, as many call
him in the department, for he's trying to write a
book and does not take Claire's information seriously. The
characters that Clare encounters are quite strange and
different, a hockey player who is a playboy and loves himself,
her detective boy friend, an aging rocker who spends his
day enteraining those at a retirement home, her ex who
thinks he's a God and his mom who is willing to help Clare
out to clear up any mystery.
HOLIDAY BUZZ is a thrilling ride and will stay with you long
after you turn the last page, as will the thought of warm
cookies, and hot coffee.
