Sergius Durham and brothers Micah and Jaxon are wolf shifters who live in the Smokie Mountain region, try to live quietly and raise thoroughbred horses and on occasion are called on to rescue hikers who get off the trails, lost or hurt. The local sheriff has called on them for just such a RESCUE IN THE SMOKIES. Only this one is different, because when Serg gets the scent of the lost hiker he knows she is his mate.
Juliana Polanski is a seasoned hiker, loves the outdoors, knows what to do, so why did she let someone tell her about a shortcut that has her lost and exhausted. Luckily her friends call for help when she doesn't return and get the search going. Serg shifts, catches her scent and begins the search. Though he is confused by the random circling path that she has taken he is thrilled when he finds her. Her being a human, adds to Serg's problems. He knows he has to tell her shifters and vampires are real and then make her believe they are mates. No problem ... he's sure he can catch her if she tries to run from the crazies.
That isn't Serg's only problem, a vampire named Keeton McKinney, may be the one who led her astray and might still be after her. There is no way the vampire is getting anywhere near his mate. The brothers hadn't been able to catch the vampire, but they've always been able to chase him away. If Juliana is the target, he might be harder to chase away than ever.
RESCUE IN THE SMOKIES is amazing! The pace is fast, the writing so vivid that you can almost smell the pine, and the guys ... well what can I say they are shifters and brothers. I like the camaraderie of the brothers, that also includes the sheriff, the teasing and joking is something that adds a realistic touch for me. And I really appreciated Juliana's attitude and the way she worked into the truth of who she was falling for. The attraction between Juliana and Serg is spontaneous and hot enough to burn your fingers and not for the faint of heart. The author [Becca Jameson] has written a winner and with two more brothers I hope to see them get what they deserve.
