Mystery Woman Sleuth

Soap opera star Alexis Peterson shocks her fans when she leaves her number-one show, The Yearning Tide, for The Bare and the Brazen. But she couldn't remain working with the people who had once thought her a murderer. Luckily her new soap opera has been crime-free—at least, until the Daytime Emmy Awards. Alexis' coworker and co-presenter Jackson Masters is a no-show until he literally drops in during mid-presentation.

Despite the horror of Jackson's murder, Alexis can't help but be happy to see Detective Frank Jakes again. She's avoided him since she was cleared of murder because she has a steady boyfriend, crime scene investigator Paul Silas. Alexis must decide between Paul and Jakes before things get even more entangled. Jakes seems overly eager for Alexis to assist in the investigation, purportedly because of her soap opera industry ties. Her invaluable assistance is readily apparent when she recognizes the name of another murder victim from a list of those killed the same way as Jackson. Alexis' life becomes even more complicated when her thieving ex-husband Randy reappears and wants a role in their daughter's life.

Is there a serial killer targeting aspiring soap opera hunks? Why is Jakes' partner so unhappy about Alexis' involvement in the case? What is Randy up to? Why has he returned to the U.S. after three years on the run? Will Alexis choose Paul, Jakes or neither one? Will her involvement in this case result in Alexis' demise?

DIAL EMMY FOR MURDER is the second Soap Opera mystery. Due to some spoilers readers will probably enjoy the story more if they read the books in order. There has to be some suspension of disbelief, but once that's done this turns out to be an enjoyable read. Ms. Davidson leaves a small plot thread dangling to be answered in a future book. Those who love the "had I but known" style will be in heaven with this series.
