Since his return from overseas, Natches is unable to forget about the agent he rescued from the hands of the enemy. Their connection is stronger than anything he's felt before. Unfortunately, before he could explore his emotions, she disappeared without a trace. Then out-of-the- blue, she shows up during an investigation in his home town bringing his unforgotten feelings front and center. He decides to follow her after her return not only to keep an eye on her but to figure out what she is up to.

Chaya Dane's guilt over being with Natches while her daughter lay dying in an unexpected bombing overwhelms her and forces her to focus on her work more than usual. Chaya's boss knows something happened between her and Natches after her rescue and decides to use her connection to the Mackay family to his advantage.
