At 16, Cassidy Buchanan is a tomboy who loves her horses, tolerates her older sister, Angie, and pretty much takes for granted the cushy life her father provides for her. But one day her father hires Brig McKenzie to break her new foal and her world gets turned upside down.
At 19, Brig McKenzie is a rebel, a womanizer and the town troublemaker. Brig's father left shortly after he was born and his mother is the town nutcase, claiming to be psychic. Something in his life has got to change and the Buchanan sisters, one who wants his body and the other who wants his heart, are sure to force some differences his way.
When Angie is killed in a fire, Brig is the last person to see her alive and the prime suspect. Cassidy, knowing he had nothing to do with her sister's death, helps him escape, never to hear from him again.
Seventeen years later, another fire rages through the peaceful town, nearly taking the life of Cassidy's husband, Chase, Brig's older brother, and another, unknown man. Their marriage on the rocks before the fire, Cassidy feels she must set her feelings aside and stay to help Chase recover from his injuries.
Cassidy wants to investigate the fire to find out who set it and why and if it has any connection to the fire that killed her sister years ago. She needs to find out who would want to do such damage. In her mind, her first love, Brig, is the key, if only she can track him down. Meanwhile, an angry killer is on the loose.
I highly recommend FINAL SCREAM, which was previously published under the title Intimacies. Jackson has rewritten it extensively, thus the new title and packaging. I don't want to give anything away because it's full of exciting and unexpected twists. You won't be able to put it down until you know "who done it."
