Romance Paranormal

He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her...

Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life.

She’s haunted by dreams of her own death...

After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting Calisto she's drawn to him in ways she doesn't understand.

They’ve waited in the shadows for centuries...

Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.

Re: Night Walker

Yes, I'd love to live forever. Having all the time to travel the world, meet so many new and exciting people. The only down fall would be watching loved ones die over the years.
Thank you for a wonderful giveaway.
(Stacey Clifford 12:22pm July 18, 2011)

I think it can go both ways. It would be great to
stop aging and know that human diseases ans
ailments will no longer afflict you. But having
eternity also means establishing new identities
after what would have been a normal human
lifespan. Not fun having to scattered accumulated
wealth or investments just so those who start to
wonder don't fins out who and/or what you are.
(
Sara Rodesch 12:41pm July 18, 2011)

Yes, I would take the opportunity to live forever. This would allow me time to travel whereever I wished, learn whatever I wanted, and see so many (hopefully wonderful) changes. I think that as long as you vary your location, employment, etc. you would not get bored or tire of living. I would not like loosing all of my loved ones though.
(
June A, Manning 12:44pm July 18, 2011)

Hi Stacey! *waving*

It would definitely be cool to have all the time in the world to travel...

Thanks so much for commenting!!!

(
Lisa Kessler 12:51pm July 18, 2011)

Hi Sara -

I think you're right about the problem of new identities! Calisto mentions that in Night Walker. He also has the added problem that he stays in the same area when he reestablishes himself... Yikes!

Thanks for commenting!!!

Lisa :)
(
Lisa Kessler 12:53pm July 18, 2011)

Hi June Ann -

I think you're right, losing our loved ones would be an extremely high price to pay for eternity.

If we could vary our employment that would also mean we would have to keep up with technology too, so maybe that would keep us in the present instead of living in the past and watching the world around us pass us by...

Thanks for commenting!!!

Lisa :)
(
Lisa Kessler 12:56pm July 18, 2011)

I don't think I could live forever, because I can't live
without my loved ones. So that's a no for me, I wouldn't
like to live forever.

I think you become very lonely when you live forever with no
friends because they keep dying.
(
Annabel Blootshoofd 1:00am July 18, 2011)

Hi Annabel -

I think I'm with you... Unless I could make my family and friends immortal with me I think I'd be too sad to live forever...

Lisa Kessler 1:12am July 18, 2011)

I would like to live forever because I would have the time to make the mistakes we all make and then start over and do it right! I'd also have the time to read all the books I could ever want and go to all the places in the world I'd love to see.
(
Patti Paonessa 2:21am July 18, 2011)

Oh I love having time to read all the books you've always wanted to read!!! That's a whole new perk of immortality! :)

Hi Lisa - yes I want to live forever - of course I might change my mind about that a few thousand years in the future - but I'll worry about that then! As to what I would do - I think a lot of the choices we make, where we live, what we do... are because we don't have time to do everything - and there are so many places I want to go and things I want to try...
(
Nina Croft 3:43am July 18, 2011)

Holy moly! Look at that awesome cover :-) Would LOVE to win.
Thanks so much for the giveaway!
(
Saskia Kanstinger 6:45am July 18, 2011)

I think it would be great at first but watching loved ones die and keeping interested in life would eventually be too high a price to pay.
(
Barbara Hanson 8:31am July 18, 2011)

I wouldn't want to live forever. I think you would eventually pay a high price for it as you begin to lose loved ones and life would become dull and lonely.
(
Tabitha Monroe 9:12am July 18, 2011)

No I think that one life is enough..but I suppose it would depend on the circumstances...it could be good or bad...
(
Dawn Staniszeski 9:14am July 18, 2011)

I would want to if there was my fated love to spend it with ;) but in real life, I don't think so.

I am looking forward to this release. I have read your short Across the Veil and love the way you write :)
(
Sharon Stogner 9:31am July 18, 2011)

YES, I would love to be immortal and help God and other people and friends make this a better planet to live on and help out a bunch of people succeed along the way. WOW, Night Walker sounds like a fantastic book to read. I Pray that I Win because it sounds so fantastic that once I start reading I would not put it down until done with the whole book. Thank YOU very much and may GOD Bless YOU and others with lots of Success too. Thanks, Cecilia CECE
(
Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez 9:48am July 18, 2011)

Unless I am with my family and significant other, I wouldn't want to live forever.
(
May Pau 10:07am July 18, 2011)

i think i would be okay with it as then i would be able to watch over my family and all of their decendants and make sure that they were taken care of. as the blurb says he collects mass amounts of wealth, with eternity you would be able to do that and make sure you used it to provide not only for your family but for those that are in need.

on the flip side of that what if all of your family died and you were left alone? then the whole purpose of why i chose to do it would not be there any more and i don't think i would do it for any other reason.
(
Tammy Ramey 11:02am July 18, 2011)

Hey LIsa,

You know a part of me would love living forever, I think I could think of things to keep myself entertained for quite a few centuries, sooo many things to learn and explore. Bur really, I have always been fascinated about what happens after we die, as much as I love life, I would hate to miss the chance for that last great adventure.
(
Heidi Durham 11:12am July 18, 2011)

I wouldn't like to live forever unless I had somesone special sharing the experience with me.
(
Sheila True 11:41am July 18, 2011)

I wouldn't want to be immortal. I would hate to have to watch the people I love pass away. I could meet new people and make friends but I would have to lose them too. It would be too painful. I think one life is enough.
(
Stacie Deramo 12:03pm July 18, 2011)

Tough question! First thought it to live forever and strive to make an impact. If I think about it too much I could probably talk myself out of it, however!
Good luck and happy writing!
(
Tracie Travis 12:16pm July 18, 2011)

I would not want to live forever unless I could choose the age at which I would live forever at. If I could go back to about 23, definitely. At my age now, no. So it could go either way.
(
Vicki Hancock 12:45pm July 18, 2011)

I would LOVE to win a copy of Nightwalker. It sounds like another great book.Even if I'm not the lucky winner it's still going on my to be read list.

I'm a bit ambiguous about the chance to live forever. On the
one hand I think I would hate to live on even after all my

all that time to fill with all the new books to read :D

I think if I had millenia to indulge myself, I'd eventually come around to the place Lestat arrived, to where meaning became not a philosophical diversion, but a craved necessity. And I dunno if I'd take bodily immortality if were offered. There's probably something around the next bend you don't get to learn about if you're going to stay stuck in your earthly spacesuit...
(

I would love to live forever if my health conditions could be kept under control by medications. I won't divulge my age, but I drive my Husband a little bonkers, because I always think younger than my age. That keeps me young, along with my volunteer work and hobbies. Staying as busy as I can so I don't have to think about my health problems, although it's very hard not to do so, is key to staying young. A good sense of humor helps, too!! I have to laugh at myself when I drop something because I lose the sensation in my hands, or if I have to walk off a bad muscle spasm. It's part of the hand I was dealt. On the really bad days, I just have to stay home, but I'm praying that there are medications that will really help me. When you have 4 different conditions, it's very hard to be treated. Only part of it is under control, and you have to leave the rest in God's hands. I would not want to turn into a Vampire to survive, however. Your book sounds intriguing, and I'm anxious to read it. Great cover!!

Peggy Roberson 3:47pm July 18, 2011)

Hi Lisa!I don't think I would want to live forever. Sadly this world will come to an end sooner or later, we humans have been clogging up this planet for a long time now,and I don't think I would want to be around when that happens, it would be awful lonely. I just hope we all pass of natural causes at a very old age. I would love to win a copy of your book, and yes the cover is very awesome!

lol i prob would but only would take it of i had met my forever mate .... (like a hot vampire / were man)
i think it would be a long time i agree but would be interesting to seee how the world changed
and i guess if ya did have enough after 500 -- 100's of years then there prob wouldf always be ways of leaving permentantly .. even for an immortal :)

Sorry to hear about your health issues! You sound like you've got an awesome attitude about everything though... My best friend since junior high has lupus and she's plagued with strange flare up symptoms. You definitely learn to roll with the punches...

If it's any consolation, when you're turned into a Night Walker all your "human" maladies would die so you wouldn't be sick or in pain anymore. That's something, right? :)

Not sure it's worth it.

I think you're right, after you think about it, the price to pay for immortality might be too high...

Living forever sounds good at first but I think would turn into its own curse. Besides the awkward details (new identities, financial arrangements) it sounds lonely and increasingly tedious.
(
Carol Drummond 6:52pm July 18, 2011)

yes,it would be great!!!!!!!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 6:56pm July 18, 2011)

Living forever can be very lonely when all the ones you love die; I'm not sure I would want to go on knowing I would outlive my loved one, my family and my friends.
(
Diane Sadler 7:28pm July 18, 2011)

I love when Queen asked in a song "Who wants to live forever?". It is a heartbreaking song. I would not want to live forever. But then again, I believe that the essence that defines me will continue to exist even after my body has died. I don't know what happens to that essence but I will find out at some point. I have seen this book around the web. I have entered a few contests to win it. Maybe this will be my lucky entry! Thanks for the giveaway.
(
Jennifer Beyer 7:41pm July 18, 2011)

Sounds like such a good read. Count me in!
(
MaryAnne Banks 9:40pm July 18, 2011)

I think the idea of living forever is interesting. Being able to travel and see the world evolve and change. I would be sad though if I had to do this without my family, so that part of me thinks I don't want to live forever but make my time here on earth worth every second.
(
Anne Reeths 9:43pm July 18, 2011)

I'm not sure I would want to live forever, but no aging, being sorta bulletproof, and living a good long time would allow for time to do lots and lots of fun things.
(
Lisa Kendall 10:00pm July 18, 2011)

I don't think I would, because of everyone who would live and die while I continued on. It would be very sad.
(
Robin Daily 10:47pm July 18, 2011)

Hi Lisa, this is a hard question ! I wouldnt want to live forever unless I didnt age, and other people lived with me. To watch them all leave me behind wouldnt be fun..and I would need a way to make sure I can keep making a difference in people lives.

It sure would be amazing to see all the changes in the world..if I could live forever, Id spend my time trying to make a difference.

I would love to live forever. There is so much to do that it can't be done in one lifetime. Avoiding sickness and old age would also be a plus. However, I don't think that I could handle seeing my kids and loved ones die and go through that over and over again. No. thanks.
(
Kathleen Yohanna 4:58am July 19, 2011)

Hi Kathleen -

You came to the same conclusion I have... Sounds great, but facing losing the ones you love, makes it not worth it to me in the end either!

I think I would like to live forever to gain enough knowledge, power, and money to use for the betterment of society and those people who need help.
(
Nina Campbell 8:27pm July 19, 2011)

I think I love the idea of being immortal and able to live eternally, but in reality I would not want it. I would want to life a long and fulfilling life, surrounded by people I love and doing things I enjoy but I want closure, a time to move on. I will however live out my fascination with immortality in books.

I love accents. Your story mentioned seveal accents that make me weak in the knees. You can add Sean Connery to that list. I am even married to a man with an accent.
(
Kathleen Yohanna 4:52am May 16, 2012)

Hi, I have a light Irish accent - I've been told it's more mid-Atlantic, probably from watching Starsky and Hutch while growing up in Dulin. My husband is Scottish with a gorgeous Glasgow accent, like Sean Connery or Billy Connolly. He is aware that other people sometimes have trouble understanding him and slows down his speech to suit. I love his accent and it has the advantage that if he phones me at home I can tell immediately who is speaking! Accents do add flavour to a character in a book and they should match that person's expected upbringing, so a country dweller would sound different to a city dweller. City people talk faster. All praise to you for adding realism and giving us a treat with your hero!
(
Clare O'Beara 6:26am May 16, 2012)

I think that the British, Scotch, Irish, and English, do it for me!

I love Australian accents! I kinda swoon. I like your heroine's name, Kate. I'm a Catherine and never though I could be a Kate (with a K)...but look at Kate Middleton. She's a Catherine. Or I could have been a Cate (like Cate Blanchett). I wish I had discovered this decades ago!

I love accents, mostly the french and italian men, they are
so sexy! Hope I win, good luck to everyone!
(
Ann Thaxton 2:54pm May 17, 2012)

There are only 3 accents that I truly enjoy listening to. One is British, and the other 2 are Spanish and French. I have a dear friend who lives across the pond who calls occassionally, and I love listening to the sound of his voice. It's not a thick accent, but his voice is very enjoyable to listen to. There's a good chance that he's coming for another visit to see me next year, and I'll be in heaven again if he can make it. It's not just the accent, though, it's the expressions thrown in that make it that much more enjoyable. I am in love with your book!! Reading the excerpt totally drew me in, and I have to get my hands on it somehow!! The eye candy on the cover is the icing on the cake!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
(
Peggy Roberson 9:36pm May 17, 2012)

HI Lisa!! Love this post and I DO swoon over an accent! My heart pitter patters and I get a little dreamy eyed. Very cliche!!!
(
Jennifer Probst 10:33pm May 17, 2012)

I love the Scottish accent the best but any of them are great. My
favorites are audiobooks that have the accents so I don't have to
imagine it. Great book, great narrator and an accent...to die for.
(
Penny Keeler 5:14pm May 18, 2012)

An accent is intriguing and so is figuring out where someone is from according to their dialect. I remember on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show one guy could tell what county in England the person was from by the way they talked.
(
Alyson Widen 9:29pm May 18, 2012)

I loved the excerpt, I have to finish the story now. Lol
