Romance Historical

After Lady Emma Avery "accidentally" sends The London Weekly the notice of her betrothal to Blake Lovelace, Duke of Ashbrook–a man to whom she is not acquainted, let alone engaged–they embark on a sham engagement. As one does with so much at stake...

The Duke has just created a scandal so great that he may never be received again (Two words: twin sisters), let alone inherit a desperately needed fortune from his Oh–So–Proper Aunt Agnes. Reform–or the appearance of it–is the answer. What better way than to partake in a betrothal with one of London's Least Likely To Misbehave?

Ashbrook persuades Emma to embark on a sham engagement in spite of her protestations that he's beyond insufferable...and then he begins to seduce the one woman impervious to his charms, only to discover this wallflower may not be such a shy, retiring miss after all.

Re: The Wicked Wallflower

I think I can safely say no.. but that was because I was a tomboy...and I played tackle football..
(Cate Sparks 2:56pm October 24, 2013)

I had many crushes that didn't know I existed. I am sure that my not talking
to them really helped matters too. :)
(
Melissa Terry 3:20pm October 24, 2013)

Yes, I have, because I was so shy and would have *died* if the boy had known. LOL
(
Marcy Shuler 3:29pm October 24, 2013)

No, but I sure am looking forward to reading Emma's story.
(
G S Moch 3:41pm October 24, 2013)

More than one! Lol
(
Michelle Schafer 4:03pm October 24, 2013)

I had some "fantasy crushes" when I was a young girl. I would be madly in love with a teen idol that I would never meet or have any contact with. :) There was a teen magazine called "Tiger's Beat" that I loved!
(
Sandy Fielder 4:24pm October 24, 2013)

Looking forward to reading this book
(
Jean Benedict 4:57pm October 24, 2013)

Just a few. It all started in junior high...
(
Linda O. 8:06pm October 24, 2013)

The story of Emma sounds interesting. Most of us have crushes when we were younger.
(
Barbara Wells 8:43pm October 24, 2013)

Can't wait to read THE WICKED WALLFLOWER
(
Jennifer Richardson 9:29pm October 24, 2013)

I've never had a crush that didn't know I was alive. I didn't get it in Jr. high when all my friends had crushes on bands.
(
Laura Gullickson 9:59pm October 24, 2013)

Only every other week, but I was pretty shy when it came to
"boys" in middle school. But I met my husband of 26 years
when I was 16 so I must of figured out them out some how!
This sounds like a fun story and I would love to read it.
(
Michelle Whitwam 10:02pm October 24, 2013)

Oh, yeah! I had a huge crush on a guy when I was in 7th
grade. He definitely didn't know I existed.
(
Janie McGaugh 10:23pm October 24, 2013)

Oh the memories. Thank-you.
(
John Fry 10:40pm October 24, 2013)

Crushes must start early in my family. I witnessed my 5y.o. struggling to
get the attention of a 6y.o. playmate when they were having an art and craft
painting session at our house. She was totally oblivious to all my son's
effort to get her to acknowledge him....... More interested in doing the
painting and talking to his older (6y.o.) brother!!!
(
Chris Coulson 10:53pm October 24, 2013)

Personally, I am old enough now that I really don't remember "clearly" but I suppose so. I think at one stage or more in our lives we all want the attention of someone else, be it a real crush or something similar.

(
Cynthia Blain 11:26pm October 24, 2013)

Yes. Must be a high school thing. A guy in school and all those teenage
actors.
(
Pat Walker 2:10am October 25, 2013)

Yes, one of those high school crushes. Look forward to reading this story.
(
Jean Patton 7:47am October 25, 2013)

Yes, of course. I think it's hard to get out of high school without a secret crush!
(
Karen Haas 8:03am October 25, 2013)

Oh Yea! I did but it was in Elementary School. My girlfriend and I followed him all over. HA Poor Donald. Would love to read this book!!!
(
Bonnie Capuano 8:04am October 25, 2013)

No, I usually made them known! ;)
(
Sue Galuska 8:53am October 25, 2013)

(
Denise Smith 8:54am October 25, 2013)

I love wallflower books
(
Alisha Woods 9:05am October 25, 2013)

Oh yes I had crushes on guys that didn't know I even existed. That was back in junior high & high school and now I thank my stars they ignored me when I see what they turned out like.
(
Julie Parrish 10:37am October 25, 2013)

Goodness! Any that I had took place many, many years ago and are not remembered.
(
Anna Speed 11:06am October 25, 2013)

Yes, most definitely! Being in a private girl's school certainly didn't help.
(
Vennie Martinisi 11:34am October 25, 2013)

Yes, I had a crush on a great football player at our school
but he went for the little cheerleader instead of me in the
pep squad that was always cheering him on at the football
games. However, now I am married to another man for 25 years
and life goes on and on. Congrats on your new book: THE
WICKED WALLFLOWER. I like the book cover too! Your book
sounds fascinating and I would love to win it and read it
this Fall. Thank You very much. Cecilia CECE
(
Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez 12:57pm October 25, 2013)

Yep, in Junior high... I had a crush on this guy and he only saw me as a nerdy classmate that had answers.
(
Colleen Conklin 1:06pm October 25, 2013)

When I realized that boys existed, and we were supposed to be a couple, my crushes started. The problem was that I had a self-esteem problem, so I would look at them from afar. Because I was the funny one in the group of girls that made them laugh, it seems like the only ones that were attracted to me were the class clowns, who were usually the frumpy guys!! That was my lot in life, until High School, when a few guys started to look my way, but having strict parents didn't help my cause. I couldn't date until my Junior year, and it was frustrating, although I did try to get around it. The title of your book reminds me of me in a different way, but the picture doesn't. ;-) It's a really hot cover!! I can't wait to read your book, since after reading the excerpt, I wish the rest of the story was there!! It's great Fall reading!!
(
Peggy Roberson 1:08pm October 25, 2013)

Yes, I did but I also had crushes on guys who knew I existed on some level but just didn't really acknowledge me in that way. Your book cover looks great. Thanks for the giveaway!
(
Chelsea Knestrick 1:08pm October 25, 2013)

I am sure there were many crushes along the way. Thank you for the
giveaway.
(
Melanie Backus 3:17pm October 25, 2013)

Oh definitely... in high school.
(
May Pau 4:43pm October 25, 2013)

Yes, unfortunately. Maybe that's why I love wallflower stories! Your book sounds wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!!!
(
Linda Brennan 5:49pm October 25, 2013)

Your book sounds great. Thanks for a chance to win. Crushes are always hard -
unless they lead to reality.
(
Nancy Reynolds 6:33pm October 25, 2013)

I went to a pretty small school, so everyone knew I existed.
The boys I liked might not have returned my feelings, however.
(
Karin Anderson 6:34pm October 25, 2013)

Since I'm "under-tall", okay I'm short, I somehow always managed as a teenager to have a crush on "boys" that were either football or basketball players that never noticed me! Of course I always blamed it on them never seeing me since as they walked down the halls of our High School they probably were looking right over my head!

Imagine my surprise when I went to college and somehow always managed to be asked out my the tall men in my classes! I hadn't grown in height but I did learn how to talk about things they were actually interested in!

This year my husband who is just over 6' tall (to my 5'2") celebrated our 43 anniversary so to all the other short women out there don't give up because someday that perfect man for you just might look down and fall in love with you for who you are no matter how tall you are!
(
Jeanne Miro 8:22pm October 25, 2013)

Yes I did, but it never happened for us. Books sound great. Thanks for a chance to win your book.
(
Linda Hall 8:29pm October 25, 2013)

Yes! A tall texan - he was just so nice!
(
Diane Sallans 8:35pm October 25, 2013)

Yep, more than once. Love the idea of this book.
(
Gayle Cochrane 8:50pm October 25, 2013)

Yes, I did. I tried every possible ways to him notice me. He just thought I was funny.
(
Kai Wong 8:55pm October 25, 2013)

I know!! The hot guys always fall for the nasty ones. And then the lucky hot guys have a pretty smart one come along and save them. When they didn't even know they needed saving because they are hot guys! haha Bet this is a good one!!
(
Lisa Hutson 9:06pm October 25, 2013)

When I was in high school,I really liked this boy.He new I was alive, but did not know about the crush. His mother and mine were friends.I am very happily married and love my husband. Who was not my crush,I haven't seen since high school. Good Luck to every one!
(
Therese Abdali 11:04pm October 25, 2013)

Oh, most definitely. I've always been The Wallflower, or the person that guys only came to for advice. Both are pretty brutal when you're young. Now... it makes me realize, thanks to romance novels, that waiting for the right guy to notice you is worth the wait :-)
(
Chelsea Brooks 11:13pm October 25, 2013)

Not really an answer to your question, but the wallflower
doesn't always lose. I met my husband when he crossed the
room to meet my room mate and was then too insecure to turn
away when she left with another guy just as he arrived. One
dance, a brief conversation, and then the 2 of us ever
since. I look back on my several crushes as a way to
preserve myself from having to make relationship commitments
until I was ready to do so--after all if you are lovesick
alone in your room, nothing really bad ever happens.
(
Janet Martin 9:52am October 26, 2013)

Yes, several. I was so shy, I never talked to them.
(
Carol Woodruff 10:57am October 26, 2013)

Yes, I've had a few. They never even knew I existed.
(
Mary Preston 6:05am October 27, 2013)

yes, but he thought I was just a great friend
(
Patricia Lambert 11:35am October 27, 2013)

When I was younger, it seemed like every crush I had was
either totally oblivious to my existence or just thought of me
as a friend. Twenty two years ago, I found someone who could
be both best friend and love.
(
Glenda Martillotti 12:46pm October 27, 2013)

Of course, I had crushes which ended up being just dreamy. I
saw the Perks of Being A Wallflower movie and it showed the
shy character getting some guts and breaking out of the mold.
