Anne Avery
Anne Holmburg was born in Colorado and graduated from the
University of Colorado after having studied engineering and
finance. She became the first woman to work as an outside
plant engineering technician for Mountain States Telephone
and Telegraph. After several years in engineering and a
year as a commercial forecaster, Anne joined the United
States diplomatic service. She served as Budget and Fiscal
Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus, then served as
Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy in
Venezuela and Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy in
Ecuador. She also worked in press and public affairs in
Barbados and later in Grenada. After leaving the diplomatic
service, Anne spent two more years in Ecuador as a
freelance journalist. Back in Colorado, she became Director of Company and
Community Relations for Current, Inc. Anne now writes full
time under the names Anne Avery and Kate Holmes.
