Mark Sullivan is not happy about the role he's playing in
his most recent assignment -- auditioning as a male stripper
to get close to nightclub owner Nicki DeStefano and see her
books, which the Feds are sure will show she's laundering
money for her Mafia uncle. They're unsure whether Nicki's
involved in the crime, but they're convinced it's going on.
Mark plans on getting his job completed before he actually
has to go on stage for real -- though he doesn't mind his
audition for the sexy Nicki. In fact, it's going to be no
hardship to gain her trust and slide into her bed as well.
Nicki hasn't had a relationship in two years, focusing all
of her energy on starting her club and making it
successful. Shedding her playgirl image, she can't wait to
buy out her uncle's 30 percent and own the club herself.
But her self-imposed sexless life is certainly being
challenged by the new dancer. He is so hot that Nicki can't
stand it when the women fall all over him. Learning of his
CPA background, she quickly pulls him off the dance floor,
into her bed and ultimately, into her books.
I love well-done erotica, but this story just didn't do it
for me. The sex scenes feel as if they're inserted into the
plot to steam it up -- they don't seem comfortable. It would
have been a great storyline without the awkward sex. Hmmm,
I said that wrong. The sex isn't awkward and is sometimes
pretty hot -- but it seems to throw off the flow of the book.
If the Feds want to nail a Mafia kingpin, they need a
slick trap to catch him. Enter Mark Sullivan, built for
the job—to go undercover as a male stripper in the
mobster’s Vegas club. The perk? The club’s owner. Sure
she’s got some unsavory connections but how can anyone
with those legs be all bad?
When it comes to business, Nicola DiStefano’s a pro. As
for pleasure, she’s been out of commission too long to
care. If anyone can strip her of her inhibitions it’s the
new guy who’s stirring her wildest G-string fantasies. But
Mark and Nicki have more in common than sizzling sexual
chemistry. They each have their share of secrets and
motives, and with the mob closing in, what gets exposed is
as irresistible as it is dangerous.
