In FURY IN DEATH, author J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) brings back the NYSPD team headed by Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. By her side is the responsible, sometimes girlish Peabody, and the crazy men and women who make up her squad.

Along with the attention-grabbing mystery of the murders, there is the usual romance between Eve and Roarke; we see hints of the open house party planned for the home that Mavis and her family, and Peabody and MacNabb, will share. We also get to see the Truehart that was always so adorable begin to grow into himself and become a “tone him down” partner to Baxter – who everyone knows as somewhat of a hound dog. The kid has become more open and quick-witted with the comebacks that the whole team is known for. And yes, there are ties and socks to be seen, and Jenkinson lets loose a few F-bombs, especially after Eve is hurt.

In FURY IN DEATH, I found myself sympathizing with the killer, though I knew what he was doing was very wrong; what was done was even more wrong. Such is the talent of Ms. Robb – she can make a bad guy someone that you might feel for and yet know that he needs to be stopped.

FURY IN DEATH will have you flipping pages as fast as you can because you need to know what happens next. There is enough depth to this book without being overly technical and procedural, and it is very emotional. Another amazing read by an author who never lets her fans down.
