Romance Small Town

Welcome to Labrador Falls. Stop by What The Fluff pet groomers, where the always-positive Juliette Macintyre grooms your dogs into beautiful creations. Next, stop at Brewed Awakening for coffee, a pastry, and a curt greeting from the grumpy owner, Joel Cunningham. Two people couldn’t be more opposite than these two, but when they join forces to solve a murder in town, sparks fly like crazy in Angela Barker's THE DOG PARK MURDERS.

Juliette's foster dog, Digger, enjoys visiting the dog park in town, where all sorts of people congregate, and it's here that Juliette runs into her client Corinne, who has an Afghan hound. Corinne is a doll, but her ex-husband Maurice is a tyrant and an obnoxious dog owner. When Juliette intervenes as Maurice roughly handles the dog during a custody exchange, Maurice is none too happy with her. But when Maurice is found dead in the dog park with a leash around his neck, the police suspect Juliette. As Chief Dooley hounds Juliette and her pet grooming business suffers, Juliette enlists Joel to help her find the real killer.  As they investigate together, the perky Juliette and grumpy Joel begin seeing each other in a new light, and as they close in on the killer, they grow closer to each other.

THE DOG PARK MURDERS is a fast-paced, fun, upbeat mystery with a positive heroine and a wounded hero. Juliette has a tough past and feels like an outcast in her town, yet she remains eternally positive. Joel suffers from panic attacks stemming from a past tragedy that cost him his marriage. Together, Juliette and Joel mend their emotional wounds and find strength in each other. The mystery is well- plotted with numerous clues, including a valuable vinyl record, a house cleaner with eBay sales, a torn piece of fabric, and a leash used as a murder weapon. An equally interesting subplot involves Juliette's boss, Bonnie, who can't be reached while on a cruise. The question remains: Where is Bonnie? As Juliette continues investigating the murder, the suspense intensifies with escalating attacks, shattered windows, and another dead body. Beyond the compelling mystery, the novel offers romance, emotional healing, and quirky secondary characters. With an endearing cast, a charming small town, and two highly likable main leads, THE DOG PARK MURDERS provides a light, cozy mystery that hits all the right notes, especially for dog lovers!

SUMMARY

A cozy, seasonal romance-mystery in which a grumpy café owner teams up with a sunshiny pet groomer to solve a murder that's shocked the small town of Labrador Falls. First book in the Dog Park Murders miniseries that's a perfect blend of Only Murders in the Building and The Pumpkin Spice Café.

A killer has been unleashed in their small town...

Juliette Macintyre has never met a dog she didn't love. For one thing, dogs don't judge, unlike the human residents of Labrador Falls. Most locals look at her with suspicion because her father was once a dirty cop, even though Juliette is upbeat, helpful, and the best pet groomer around. She just needs to prove it...starting with new resident Joel Cunningham, an enigma wrapped in a checked shirt and a scowl.

Joel runs the Brewed Awakening café, where the coffee is as smooth as Joel is surly. He doesn't serve pumpkin spice, he doesn't chitchat, and he claims he doesn't like dogs. Yet when Juliette stumbles upon a dead body in the dog park, strangled with one of her custom leashes, Joel becomes an unexpected ally.

He has no intention of opening up, to either his cute neighbor or the foster pup she foists on him. But he can't let a biased detective frame Juliette for murder. Whoever killed the widely loathed Maurice Allsop may be desperate enough to strike again. If they can just ignore their chemistry and focus on the clues, Juliette and Joel might be able to solve the case-before somebody else bites the dust...
