A book by Nora Roberts never disappoints, whether it is a mystical trilogy, a futuristic police series, or romantic suspense. All will have multi- dimensional characters that you will love to read and miss when the story ends.
The May 2026 release of THE FINAL TARGET is a standalone contemporary suspense with a strong romantic thread. Arden Bowie is finally launching her debut thriller novel, which she wrote during college and while working at a local bookstore. Dustin approaches her as an aspiring writer at her first book signing, seeming harmless enough. But then something seems off when he shows up at her next event. By the time she realizes how deep his obsession goes, it’s too late to stop the attack.
Even though he is sent to a psychiatric facility for five years, Arden struggles with anxiety and has difficulty leaving the house. She decides to move across the country from the Midwest to a small town in Oregon near her cousin. There she finds her place in the community and begins to flourish, including meeting Gideon, an ex-Los Angeles police detective turned wood craftsman. When Dustin receives early release, Gideon and Arden must remain vigilant until they see if Dustin has moved on or remains fixated on Arden. Even though there are no surprises about who or why, the story is fast- paced with an exciting climax. Reminiscent of an Eve Dallas plot, but with the male character having the police skills. Loved it!!!
