If you love mysteries that give you that CLUE feeling like the game, then you will love MURDER MOST HAUNTED written by Emma Mason. It is one that is hard to put down. It keeps you guessing and just when you think you had it, one of those little details will come up and you will see you are wrong yet again. This novel is written so well, it will keep you guessing until the end. In the end, I did not see it unfolding in that way. What a shocker!

Emma Masonβs debut novel, MURDER MOST HAUNTED, is packed with adventures, interesting characters, and a whole lot of mysteries going on. I love how Mason gives you little details throughout the story that later come back around at the end. These details will not seem that important at the time, but will in the end. My favorite type of mystery. MURDER MOST HAUNTED is well written with nothing left out. You have the eerie setting, the characters that in any other setting would never be matched together, the murder, and a load of secrets.
You have the retired police officer and main character, Midge McGowan, who is there on the trip because of a retirement gift. The ticket to a real haunted house is not what she was expecting. After she arrives on her weekend to get away, she meets some very interesting people and is forced on a ghost-hunting that does not sound like a vacation at all. She meets a paranormal investigator, a once-famous pop star, and many others. Β Β
They soon find they are stranded there with no way to get help when strange things start to happen. A blizzard makes the roads impassible. Weird occurrences around the house, leaving everyone wondering if they will get out alive. Midge tries to keep herself smart as she deals with personal things as well. At times, you are not sure who to trust or what will happen next.Β

On her last day as a detective, Midge McGowan is given the retirement present from hell: a ticket to a haunted house tour. She’ll have to spend a weekend ghost-hunting in an isolated mansion with a group of misfits, including a know-it-all paranormal investigator and a has-been pop star.
The guests soon realize that the house has a mind of its own… and that they might not be the only ones there. An eerie figure appears on the property, and then the unthinkable happens: someone is murdered in a room that’s been locked from the inside.
